Robar Questions?

I am getting ready to send one of my guns out to Robar for some work and have some questions. Which finish is prefered, the NP3 or the Roguard? I am leaning towards the NP3 finish as I really like the looks better, but I would like to get a finish that will be the most durable. Does anyone have any pics of a gun with either finish? Also I am torn as to which of my guns to send in. I have a custom built Springfield that has a classic blued finish that I really like on that gun. I will probably have that one reblued. So the question is which of my two Kimbers to have done. I shoot my 25th Anniversary the most so I was thinking of sending that one as it spends the most time in a holster. Or I can send in my Kimber TLE/RL. This gun is never in a holster, and does not get shot very often. But, the finish on it is not very good. The gun works every time all the time (I have about 1000rnds through it), but the finish sucks. So I would like to get your opinions on what I should do. Do they do two tone finishes, this would be Ideal as I dig two tone finishes. Lastly do they do checkering? If I send in the 25th Custom I would like to have the front strap checkered. The NP3 finish has many advantages and is what I would personally go for in a carry gun. I also like hard chrome.

As to which gun... Unless you have to have tactical black, I'd probably send in which ever gun gets carried the most. I mean, it makes more sense to me to pay for a custom durable finish for a gun that will be used and carried rather than one that gets left in the safe and only used occasionally.

The NP3 coating will be more durable. It is a nickle base and therefore shiny. If you want a black gun go with the Rogard. Roguard is a durable finish as well, but won't hold up quite as well as the NP3. Also the NP3 is pretty slick, literally.

I LOVE the NP3 on my firestar. You'll just have to take my word for how cool it is, as my computer lost a drive so none of my gun photos are available now.

Very nice look, very slick (you will not be prepared for how slick) and just a good thing all in all.

Roguard is okay. I mean, I am sure it will hold up forever, but it looks like what it is, basically paint. Works for the parts I needed to be black, but not thrillingly cool like the NP3 was.

Also, NP3 is way less silver than it looks. Unless to apply to a mirror-polished gun, it will be very almost matte gray. Not a giveaway at all for concealment, being sneaky, etc.

I had my HK USP done years ago. All internals were done with NP3 and all exteranl parts in Rogaurd. I wanted the black external mostly because of looks. The NP3 slicked up the mechanism a bit but the best benifit is the self lubricity and cleaning. No scrubbing. Just a wipe down and all is clean.
The Rogaurd is also an easy clean. It doesn't have the slickness of the NP3 though. Both have been very durable. Only wear shown in 6 years is on the top of the breech block where it contacts the slide during battery. All other surfaces are just as fresh as when I had the work done. I'll definately have more guns done by Robar. The model of gun will determine what external finish but all internals are NP3 for sure.
