I was just thinking. The gun in Robocop was a tricked-up Beretta. So was the gun in Equilibrium(a cool movie). Why doesn't Beretta actually make copies of these guns for purchase? As special collector items, Beretta could make the price pretty high, and people would still buy them. Who wouldn't want Robocops gun?

Why not? The same reason that motivates any for-profit company to do anything: Money. I don't know what the engineers at Beretta are thinking, but I can guess it has a lot to do with what the marketing department thinks can sell.

Even in the age of CNC machinery and polymer wonder frames, gearing up to produce a product that is substantially different from anything that currently exists requires a considerable amount of manpower, time which costs money. If Beretta thought they could make back their investment into Robocop's 93R (semi-auto for the states, of course), or Christian Bale's Beretta/Brick hybrid, I'm sure they would.

Then again, having a reputation for producing best-quality defensive pistols may be more important than putting out costume or collector's pieces. I don't know. E-mail Beretta.

Beretta/custom gunsmiths/new 90TWO pistol

Did you see the new Beretta 90TWO pistol line? www.BerettaUSA.com

As far as custom pistols from films/TV shows, I'd check the homepage of the American Pistolsmith's Guild. The only firm I know of that does this kind of special work is Devel. Actor Robert Culp(I Spy, The Greatest American Hero) had Devel make him several blank firing and live round firing weapons. His FBI Agent character; Bill Maxwell used a S&W model 59 9mm tricked out by Devel.

BTW: RoboCop used a Beretta 93R 9mm. ;)

Robocops gun was awesome!! But it also fired 3 rounds at a time, that would be even cooler!

What exactly is that long vented piece added to the gun?

They are bits you must have on any futuristic weapon from the future:)

(and cover up where the prop guys removed the forward assist)

I frequent the Beretta Forum, and one of the members there, PB14TX, is the owner of the 93R that was used in the Robocop movie.

If you do a search there, you'll see some posts and photos of that gun, as well as the cosmetic additions that the props department did to it. He also has a web site with photos of many fine Berettas in his collection.

The 93R was imported for a very short period before the 1986 machine gun ban, so only six of the legally-transferrable copies are thought to exist in the US.

I think PB14TX has two of them. :what:

Check out Sin City for Robocops gun also, Hartigan has it when he cleans up the farm at the end! Go Hartigan! Frank Miller also did a Robocop!

I too want a Equilibrium gun! Imagine using one at the range. Everyone would be asking you "What the heck is that!??" and "Where can I get one!"

the gunsmith that built the robo gun is a local (MN) and I shot a copy of it he allowed another local MG guy to make. They all started out as berretta 92 semi's then got a bunch of machined aluminum added to them. The one I shot only worked realy well with hot 90gr loads.

I want Christian Bale's gun from Equllibrium. Along with Michael Biehn's gun from Aliens. And Jesse Ventura's gun from Predator, and Kurtwood Smith's gun from Robocop (at least that one is for sale for to the GP). What are some other classic movie guns that I can lust for?

I would LOVE the gun from equilibrium:

Beretta's target cheeta .22lr pistol looks somewhat similar:

i know of a guy who i think still sells kits to make airsoft berettas into equilibrium guns and the finished product looks dead on.
