1858, those sound like wonderful tests for YOUR guns. Be sure and tape them for us to watch.

"That's it." then you were paying attention.

That's all he WAS saying.

If only a test of your choosing is good enough. Jump on it.

Make sure it somehow applies to the real world though, Competitive Whatever, is far from "RealWorld" for most of us.

All I care about is MY firearms since those are the ones that I use. I didn't have any specific plan other than to use up 139 rounds left over from a 2-day match when I asked a friend to film me shooting a few magazines. At 2:40 I started to rotate the pistol to test out of position shooting with MY 1911. This says nothing about Kimber pistols in general, simply that my pistol worked perfectly for close to 500 rounds over a long weekend without cleaning, in various positions, with three brands of magazines and shooting my reloads.

I didn't say anything to the contrary. Just making it clear for those that seem intent in extrapolating the OPs test in order to make general statements about 1911s. The OP did call it a "torture test" which is somewhat dramatic given the test conditions.

Ruger your post 22 is spot on, comprehension is the key! Some people don't understand what is written and jump to illogical conclusions at the drop of a hat. The op simply states that his Rock runs when filthy, that's all he says! He wasn't making comparisons or judgements. He did something to his gun that few of us are willing to do, he made no generalized statements about 1911's.

Many people seem to loathe these guns for some reason? The fact they will shoot better than the people holding them or fire without fail when when full of "dirty water" at a cost of $450.00 seems lost on some. I'm thinking a Rock may be my next piece, seems like they are well worth the price for the "quality" you get.

I comprehend quite well. The response was made to other posters' comments of the internet and folk myth pricier/tighter 1911's are unreliable. I have no idea where the implication came from about the RIA gun used and the more expensive ones, but it did and usually does and was mentioned more than once in this thread. We know the OP's gun runs wet with clean and dirty water. Good test, but not all inclusive. those were the only comments made. I'll take what I observed and put it in memory. If anyone would like to see a sand and mud test done to my Baer PII feel free to send the new pistol to my FFL. But I won't subject it to unnecessary wear and tear to prove a point. I would also clear the barrel first so I don't end up with a damaged gun since my life will NOT be on the line at that point in time.

My Rock Island is dead on accurate, I have of course modified it from the stock Officer Sized GI 1911 that I bought. Duracoated it in Remington 870 black, bought an ed brown frame rebuild kit with ed brown springs, got bright stainless hardware, but it was great out of the box I just like to customize my carry piece. I love Rock Island and just bought a full size 9mm tactical to add to my collection

I actually wanted that orange peel look, for a texture that is easier to hold on to, if you see it in person it looks a lot better than in the picture.

Appreciated the video, but don't feel that it exemplifies a large percentage of RIA 1911s. Mines has had feeding problems from the start, and has proven difficult to interact with thus far. I wouldn't take it as gospel, but it is certainly nice to see that someone is willing to put their gun to the test, especially when it passes said test.

ruger, i like that comment you left. i never said a bad thing about the higher end pistols. i was just showing that a low end one works fine and you dont have to dump 1,000 on a colt 1911 to get a reliable pistol. i will be the first to admit that, there are minor QC issues with the RIA 1911's. for instance the one in the video shot way high until i lowered the sights and the barrel ling pin would walk out a little during firing until i staked it in using the tip of a philips screwdriver and a hammer to peen metal over to hold it in place. i've read of high end 1911's barrel link pins walking out and other's shooting high too.

there customer service is EXCELLENT! i bought my first RIA tactical used and had a few stembinds and nose dives. the feed ramp was cut too deep and left very little gap between the barrel ramp and frame ramp. i told them it was a personal defense weapon and got them to send me a BRAND SPANKING NEW pistol. let's see colt do that. haha the pistol they sent me is the one featured in the video. it was a tight fitting gun when it was new, but after 1700 rounds, it's loosened up a bit. i've had it only 6 months and i plan to shoot it until the frame/slide is wore out. then i'll send it back to armscor and they will fit me a new slide or send me a new gun. the cover their guns indefinitely.

my ambi safety got a little loose around 1300 rounds so i called them and they sent me a new set. few companies will do that.
