Rock Island m206

I wasn't in a rush or anything, I just liked the m206 for what it was.

Lockup is really tight on mine, I can't say I've always felt that in every charter arms I've held.

There really wasn't a competition fir which one to get, I wanted the m206 and got that one.

I was carrying a Colt Detective special but that's an expensive piece of hardware to carry on a daily basis.Picked up the newspaper and saw an add for the RI m206 and decided to go look. They looked a little different especially with the low angled hammer. Trigger pulls felt good on all of them, no creep and crisp let off. So went ahead and made the purchase. I was at the range within a couple of hours and let off 50 plus rounds. My thumb was sore after using the wooden grips. Changed them out for the included plastic set and it was much more comfortable to shoot. Its not quite as accurate as the Colt but does a very respectable job! It has now had over 800 hot rounds though it and is still tight and accurate. For the money, it was a nice buy. After 600 rounds I felt comfortable enough to make it my daily carry. As it was such low cost, I have no problem about it getting wet or dirty, For me personally, I think it was a great buy! My Colts, S & W and Dan Wessons and other high priced revolvers get to stay in the safe . till I am ready to target shoot then they get used a lot!

I bought 2 of them several years ago. One got a set of Pachmayr Grips and went to a lady who needed a gun. The other resides in my desk and is used periodically for double action dry fire practice. They both shot close to tthe sights and functioned reliably. I don't know how many cycles the dry fire 206 has at this point but there hasn't been any noticable wear.

I have the RIA M200 and overall it's a decent firearm other than the strange chocolate-brown finish. The only issue I have with it is it will lead something fierce. It will begin to keyhole within a few cylinders of lead wadcutters. I could probably lap the bore but I simply use jacketed bullets for it.
It does go bang every time and with jacketed bullets it's as accurate as anything else I have.

I've fired it quite a bit and it's still going strong. It's definitely a step down from my gp100 or the wife's tracker but it's still perfectly fine for what it is

nice writeup by o.p. i’ve handled ria revolvers but decided to stay with taurus, albeit with 5 round capacity and 2” barrel, for a new but inexpensive 38 revolver. the ria m200 looks like a fine trunk, camp or bedside defense piece.
