I think that's at best hyperbole, and certainly not very High Road. I've found that the THR members that are newer ones tend to know less, but that's why they come here, to learn.
Especially here in the Reloading subforum, I've found there is a LOT of experience! I thought it might be enlightening to post a poll as to just how much expereince there is here.
Indeed, on just about every subject and in every subforum, there are people have been there, done that, and if you don't know who that is, it's not you.
Yes I don't claim to be an expert on reloading myself; I've only been doing it 50 years this year, and still learn things from others on this subforum.
So, THR, let's hear it. How many years, how'd you start, etc.?

Almost 10 years for me. THR is always my first stop when I have a question.
I will say that it’s pretty easy to determine who knows what they are talking about concerning reloading. Sometimes even I can answer simple questions, but I never offer an opinion on something I know little about.

About 6 years for me.
In the time I have been on this forum, I have found that I DO some things "right", and have also found how to do things "better".
I have also been enlightened to some of my ignorance in a manner that doesn't make me feel foolish.
I sincerely appreciate the help / knowledge I have gained here, and there are MANY here that will share valuable experience.
I am glad I found this forum and appreciate 99% of you........;)

I don’t know @rodex, so I’m not going to lose any sleep over his/her/it’s opinion. But I am curious why you would mention it instead of just posting the poll without all the drama.

I ticked off 10 years on the poll because it was the closest option without going over.

I see, sometimes, where someone will ask a very basic question... and get jumped on. "buy a reloading manual!" "learn how to use the search button!" ...and so on. I put that down as a victim of how much knowledge is really here. Asking a fairly simple question usually will get you a valid answer in pretty short order, minus the petty replies. Even with complex questions, or perhaps very specific questions... it seems like someone here has 'done that, got the T-shirt' and is willing to pass on their knowledge or experience.

I've been handloading since 1988 or so... I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot, but I usually learn something every time I travel the High Road...

20 years ago my uncle loaned me his original Rock Chucker press and balance beam scale, and then he taught me how to use them once I acquired some dies and components. I've been reloading ever since. But there's always something new to learn, especially when it comes to new (to me) aspects of the hobby.

Who or what is "Rodex"??
But what about the 1% that claim to know everything?:):)
Years of experience is usually a pretty good indicator but not always. Heck I knew people at work that were there for over 10 years that still floundered along doing the same things wrong over and over.(we will not go into why they were still there!)

Exactly. Ten years' experience isn't the same as one year's experience ten times. But, after awhile here, you learn who to pay attention to and who to ignore. (No comments from the peanut gallery.) ;)

20 years and I don't care to learn anymore honestly. I can take deer with my handloads. Ive won shoots with my handloads. And ive done so without blowing up a gun (or myself) And at this point in my life I'd far rather just buy ammo than reload anyway. Ive always reloaded to afford shooting. Not done it because I liked it. I know that makes me the minority on this forum. And that was when primers were 3 bucks/100 retail and not on sale....ill take up fishing or something before I give 10 dollars a sleeve for primers. I'll promise you that.

As far as saying 99% of people don't know what they doing....ive seen that a lot. Even been involved in it. First few motors I built I said how little people know. They didn't hand file their piston ring gaps. They didn't line hone their cam and crank bores. They set valve lash and point distance without a feeler guage etc etc etc. In the real world it made no difference. Theirs didn't blow any more often than mine and any HP gained was dyno HP. No matter in real world.

Same for tree cutting. One of the educated guys who was cleaning up a large lot for us raised all manner of hell because of the way the old loggers were notching trees, using wedges, drop starting saws....even mixing their fuel. Despite the fact they were in their 50s and 60s and had felled trees for 40 years. Same guy got killed by a tree soon after on some other job.

Ive seen it in the hay fields. Guy comes in with a new 100 HP tractor and fold out 10 row kicker and roller that makes house sized rolls. Tells the old guys that they been doing it wrong for years. Without taking into account that they do what works. Not what some internet farmer who lives in flatlands says works better. Lol.

People move up here to the mountains from Florida and similar places and say people here know nothing about the snow. "The internet" says fwd is plenty and a snowblower is perfect and will do everything. Within a year their scared to death and selling their home because that fwd was great in snow on flat ground. Uphill.....not so much.

In the gym I see it too. New guy comes in with his headband and fancy lifting gloves on January 1st and tells us 20 year powerlifters that we are doing it wrong. Lol. Usually by February he is hurt or quit coming.

So I for the most part don't tell anyone they don't know what they are doing and pay very little attention to anyone who says I don't. If their way works better or does something mine doesn't.... then I take notice

This whole discussion is pretty silly if we do not know the source or who/what Rodex is???
Like a stupid kids game, so and so said this about so and so.

What is a Rodex and what makes him/her/it the reloading judge?
@rodex is a member who joined THR in 2021 and made the following statement - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/best-hand-priming-tool.913654/page-3#post-12548533
... dont listen to ppl who have no clue what they are talking about (99% of this forum).

99% is a bit harsh to say the least.
I am curious what caused member @rodex to make such a claim?

I agree with Walkalong that 99% is a bit harsh. It may be true that there are THR members who have no clue what they are talking about ... But 99%?

Some THR members belong to other gun forums and in past years, they have posted same reloading questions on multiple forums to see which one answered correctly. Quite a few times, THR Handloading & Reloading subcategory not only more consistently provided the correct answers but also had the faster/fastest response time. Often, questions posted on THR H&R got responded to within 30 minutes to an hour to resolution. On some other forums, responses took days and a few never got any replies at all.

As an example, let's take a look at review of a new progressive press from Lee Precision, the Six Pack Pro/Pro 6000 kit. Even before the press was released to market in 2022, there were thread discussions regarding technical aspects of the new press and soon after the press was released, there were "hands on" experience threads to identify issues/resolution options to modifications - https://www.google.com/search?q=Lee...AHgAgAEAiAEAkgEAmAEAwAEB&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

In comparison, do a search of "Lee SPP/Pro 6000" on other forums to see how much information is posted on the new press.

And we do all sorts of "myth busting" threads to confirm or bust various reloading notions and myths instead of perpetuating them like some other forums. Just Google or search "myth busting digital scale" on different forums and see which forum finally put that myth to rest. ;) https://www.google.com/search?q=myt...nICnMQrQIoBHoECCAQBQ&biw=1138&bih=489&dpr=1.2

And thanks to THR peanut gallery insisting on larger sample size, instead of posting smallest "once in a blue moon" groups to ponder accuracy trends, "real world" testing ensued for 10,000+ rounds of 22LR while capturing every 5/10 shot groups at 25/50/100 yards to identify group size shift as new trigger parts broke in and how different brands/weights/lots of ammunition compared - https://www.google.com/search?q=real+world+22LR+site:www.thehighroad.org&biw=1138&bih=489&ei=LGPqY47GJMv4kPIPkdaFkAg&ved=0ahUKEwiOjJ2-85L9AhVLPEQIHRFrAYIQ4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=real+world+22LR+site:www.thehighroad.org&gs_lcp=Cgxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAQA0oECEEYAEoECEYYAFAAWJAYYOkbaAFwAHgAgAGIAYgBzQmSAQQxNS4xmAEAoAEBwAEB&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

Your poll doesn't fit me easily, I chose 10yr because I think that's close to my active time reloading. My grandad taught me in my early teens, circa 1983, starting with 30-30 on his JR-3 that I still have. We reloaded tons of 30-30 and a bit of 30-06, .222rem, and .357. When he died in 1989, I was a senior in high school. I packed up his reloading gear and stored it for almost 30yrs and 5 different houses. In the interim, I had a friend who reloads who let me use his setup whenever I wanted. I loaded mostly bottleneck rifle stuff over the last 30yrs on his set up, but occasionally some .38 and 9mm.
I finally got a permanent place for my own reloading bench about 3yrs ago and found THR sometime in there. I didn’t join right away, but I found that everytime I Googled a question I had, I ended up on THR, so I finally joined about 2yrs ago and have been prolifically reloading everything I shoot plus a few others. I learn something every time I'm on the forum and try to share what I do know whenever I can.
