Good evening,

I just received my “NIB” Euroarms Rogers and Spencer.

I have a question about it I hope to get answered.

Once cocked, when I press the trigger slowly it makes a mechanical click and the hammer moves forward about 1/16th of an inch. If I continue pressing the trigger, the hammer then goes fully forward as expected. I have my thumb on the hammer so it moves slowly and doesn’t drop on an uncapped nipple.

Is this initial 1/16th inch movement normal? Maybe hammer is hanging up on something due to improper reassembly?

Thank you in advance for your time.

It sounds as though the problem area is with the sear end of the trigger and the full cock notch on the hammer. There may too much engagement surface on the full cock notch, the trigger sear or both. Pull them out and look them over. It may be that some judicious stoning and sandpaper will improve matters greatly.

falmike, you have a negative sear engagement. The hammer should either move to the rear slightly (+ engagement ) for the most safe condition, or no movement ( neutral engagement) which is acceptable.

A negative situation is an accident waiting to happen!! Be very careful !! A competent Smith should be able to fix the problem.

I found clear disassembly and assembly videos from a guy in Poland on YouTube. Armed with them, I took the gun apart and found burrs on both the sear and the edge of the full-cock notch.
That is what the sear is catching on. I think all I need is a trigger job and will be good to go.
