I've shouldered Romanian AKs at gunshows and fired a couple of rounds through a friends I met at the range. Is it my imagination or are these things kinda short. My Yugo SKS and 91/30 fit me well. I'm 6'2" and long armed. Anyone else have this problem? Easy fix or should I just get used to it? I know I'm not willing to pay more than $500 for an AK. Any thoughts appreciated.

You could always put a different buttstock on there after the purchase, They were definetly not made for people of your stature, average i would say of maybe 5' 8". I have never had that problem, but I am only 5' 7" so that might explain it!

I have the exact same prob with my SAR-2 AK 74. I am 6' 1" with or without a scope my eyes burn from the smoke coming from the rear of the action. My arms are to long to get comfortable w/ it. I don't want to pay the $80 to buy black furniture. My other option is to make a new stock 2" longer via my cousins wood shop. I am in the process now of making a template to turn a piece of hard walnut into a new stock.

If you want to spend the money you can buy new plastic furniture to fit your needs. There are alot of companies that sell mail order stock kits to fit your rifle.

They were made short on purpose (thick coats and tank crews to think about). I personally love it, the shorter the better, but I can see how it could be a problem for some.

You can get a black polymer set from kvar thats 1.5 inches longer for like $90, or you can try to make your own, or you can search for a screw on 1.5-2" buttpad. I think they have those for the SKS, you could probably get one to easily work on an AK.
