Picked up one of the Romanian FPK (Dragunov) rifles some time back, A friend of mine has the "I wants" and is wanting to buy it, any idea what these are worth these days. Took me 5 months to get this one out of SOG, and if the Demicommies take over in the next election it seems to me that they would be on the endangered species list thus driving up the value.

My buddy recently bought one at a Colorado gunshow for $720.00 out the door for a new in box rifle with the standard 4x scope, one magazine (10rnd), accessory kit, and oil can. He bought a 5rnd magazine at a gunshop recently for $25.00. I'll admit that I'd be happier paying more just to avoid doing business with those jerks at SOG, however everything has it's limits.

Here's a link to a site with the parts priced seperately and in packages.

Personally I'm not sure that the Dem's will get around to an AWB super quick so your pricing theory might not hold water for the short term.

I would be more concerned with Bush and Cheney who both are on record at wanting to ban these types of firearms altogether. Not to mention Lott and company who make Clinton look like a raving militia woman.

Price range seems to be in the $700-900 range about now. Alot cheaper than a real Dragunov thats for sure.

Uh, neither President nor Vice President can ban anything. Pres can prevent importation, but can ban nothing. And, as the AWB died under Bush's watch, and he neither bemoaned its death nor actively campaigned for its renewal, you're concerns are misplaced. Remember, every single firearms ban in the US came from a Democrat congress. That is what you should worry about.

why did they let the awb die? hummmm, they had the chance to be re-elected, now there is no chance that they can be re-elected, they don't give a darn and will do what they want, because it dosen't matter to them, in no way will it effect them.

Btw nice looking rifle congrats, and please let us know how it does!

A friend on mine bought one from a marine officer who brought it back following the first gulf war. It was a real soviet Dragunov and came with the day and the night scope. It would shoot a ragged hole at 100 yds in the dark. We were very impressed. Some of the copies look like the real deal but lack the accuracy. The imports from China are a prime example. The Romanian looks good and would like to see a range report. Does it have the scope rail for a PSO scope?

That rifle looks like it's in terrific shape. I guess the value is going to depend on how many rounds have gone through it.

You're right that the Democrats are worse when it comes to guns, but we shouldn't make the mistake of thinking that the Republicans pro-gun (except for maybe a couple, like Ron Paul). They have never made any attempt to repeal any of the laws currently on the books, which means they are a phony opposition to the Democrats.

Bush went on record as saying he would sign the renewed AWB if it passed Congress. Also, Reagan signed the 1986 "Gun Owners' Protection Act," which bans citizens from ownership of newly-manufactured full-auto weapons, even with background checks. The 1994 AWB was much worse (full-auto isn't really an advantage except maybe in subguns at <25m), but it has fortunately expired.

Neither major party believes in the true purpose of the Second Amendment. Neither Repubs nor Demos believe that citizens should have the ability to fight for their rights against their own government. Both major parties believe that, at most, only "sporting" weapons belong in civilian hands.

VERY nice looking gun.I really like the looks of those, and the round is plenty potent, and so cheap and plentiful in surplus, I'm going to have get myself one, one of these days.

Picked up one of the Romanian FPK (Dragunov)

It is not an FPK/Dragunov/Tigr/NDM/etc. The Romanian is the PSL (AKA Romak III). They are basically a long barreled AK with a lengthened reciever and much better trigger. At a glance, they do look like a Drag, though. That's why I bought one.

Current value for a used one with all accessories and the two extra mags you show would be between $650 and $800, depending on locale and who is buying. They are not the easiest rifle to get hold of right now, which does seem to help the resale value.

IMO, you should keep it. While you won't be shooting ragged holes at 300 meters, they are reasonably accurate and cheap to shoot. I enjoy mine.

MachIVshooter, though I know what an honest to goodness Dragunov is, I can only relate what I find on the rifle.

FPK's and PSL's both have the standard commie scope rail. When sold "as issued" they also come with a 4X scope so mounted. My buddy has one that holds steady at 2 MOA out to 500 yards. I truly believe the rifles limitation is that scope. Bear in mind that the buttstock is very short and that the scope is mounted high enough that American style cheekwelds will require some padding. They seem to shoot best with lighter bullet weights. 147 grain if I recall...

A Romak was my Christmas present:D

It definitely commands attention at the range. Has a lot less recoil than a Mosin. I shoot 147 grn silver tip for less than 10cents a round.

It will throw brass about 30 feet to the right rear, make sure you're at the end of the benches unless you want a bunch of ticked of shooters around you!

I have the standard 4 power scope on mine but someday will get the 8 power with crosshair. Can ring the 300 yrd gong 10 for 10 as fast as I can get back on target and shot a 1 1/2" group at 100 yrds once so far.

I think, that to call it a long barrelled ak is not doing it justice, it can shoot better than me and the stock scope really leaves a lot to be desired.

Does anyone make 20 round mags?

7.62x54r yum yum
