Romanian SKS- where are they and how much?

I am not trying to start a debate about if Warsaw pacts rifles are any good. I have a buddy who reminds me I am a "godless commie heathen" for having an infatuation with AKs, Dragunovs and the like.

My question: How hard are Romanian SKS rifles to come by at gun shows? I've been to some gun shows and found nothing. I have called around in PA and everyone laughs and tells me "they don't import them anymore, good luck". I really don't trust the online web sites as I like to examine anything I am going to buy before hand.

What kind of price do they command at this point?

I am sure someone is going to say "get a Yugo" but I find them pretty ugly, no offense to anyone.

Any advice or comments on how to get one would be appreciated.

All I can say is check the pawn shops. I have seen them there and that's the only place I've seen them in years. They haven't been imported in years. Good luck in your search.

Century Arms International, SOG, and a couple others have the Romanian SKS in their catalogs. Around $180 for a good condition one. Stocks may be in sorry condition though. Good luck in your purchase.:)

Ask the guys over on this board, they'll know:

I have yet to see a Romanian at the gun show in Austin. I think they are few and far between. I have seen them on GunsAmerica and a few other auction sites. They were not imported in near the numbers as the Chinese, Russian, or Yugoslavian. The Romanians, along with the Albanians were imported in far fewer numbers. Good luck.

Lonestar, thank you for the link. This site is exactly what I need.
