I saw Mitt Romney being interviewed while I was at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) in Washington DC last weekend. The subject of renewing the AWB came up and he said he supports it (also using the words machine gun:banghead: ) while talking about it.

Here is a video clip of his answer (starts around 1:10)

Don't suport him then....and quit beating your head against the wall:D . I don't think I could ever vote for a mitt.

He says that he supports the 2nd Amendment, but then immediately says that he favors banning "assault weapons" [whatever they are]. Tries to weasel out by saying that he'd need to look at what's being banned, etc. Sorry, IMHO there should be NO hand-held firearms that can be banned, PERIOD!

He just lost any chance he had of getting my vote - which is a shame, because I think that otherwise he probably wouldn't be too bad (and surely a lot less bad than Hitlery).

Can someone find a way to re-animate George Washington?

Every body is trashing Romney, Giuliani, and McCain right now, but before its all over, most gun owners, and most people on this very forum will be enthusiastically voting for one of them for president.

We'll fall for the old "this election is to important too vote your conscience" or "a vote for a third party is a vote for Hillary" or "he's only playing politics saying he is supporting that AWB", just like we all did last time.

I SWEAR ON MY LIFE, I will NEVER vote for Giuliani.

COUNT ON IT.

I posted this last week but it didn't get much consideration:

I believe we need to contact as many people that we can regarding our position-- including the canditates and the policital parties.

In dealing with an oval office election, contacting congresscritters won't do anything one way or the other.

Thats too bad. Of the top 3 Republicans, I was starting to lean towards Romney as being the best of a bad bunch. So much for that.

Hunter, Tancredo, Paul - there isn't anyone else. Maybe Gingrich.

As sad as it is to say this, I BELIEVE that McCain has the best record on 2nd Amendment issues of the 3 GOP frontrunners.

And even then, he is VERY inconsistent.

BTW, there is a GREAT article in the new Shotgun News regarding the approach to 2nd Amendment by Dems and GOP. They pointed out that Dems are realizing that being anti-gun is hurting them, and also pointed out that the GOP has had our support but really hasn't really returned the favor.

Mitt Romney:

"I suppport the Second Ammendment, but I just think guns should be banned."

(Or Giuliani, or whatever other RINO, and with McCain you can add " I support the First Ammendment, I just think speech prior to elections should be banned.")

Not necessarily.... Bill Clinton's $200 dollar haircuts were about the worst I've ever seen. It made his head look lumpy.

Looked like a drunk monkey chewed on his head--

I read a bit about Romney. He joined the NRA last August (convenient, eh?). He does not own a firearm, his son owns a shotgun, so he came to the conclusion that its "sort of his" . The guys' a slimeball. I have more respect for Hitlary, at least she isnt trying to hide the fact she hates my beliefs.

I sincerely believe that contacting all the candidates and telling them
where we stand is the worse thing we can do for our cause. All your
doing is telling them what sound bites your vote requires.

If they've not come down on the side of pro 2nd at this point
anything they say is a lie.

Also, I've said it before and I'll say it again, we are far
better off with an anti Democrat than an anti Republican.
The republican party needs to EARN your support thru
action not sound bites and lies.

Just my 2 cents worth.

They're all crooks that are only out for their own gain. I think selling your country out for your own benefit used to be called treason.
