Who is STI?
I applaud Mr. Barret for his tenacity but this is largly symbolic.
Law enforcement does not need to take 1,000 yard shots.

Law enforcement does not need to take 1,000 yard shots. I doubt that the state Hawaii is too upset. Kind of like if Polaris decided not to sell any more snowmobiles to Hawaii. They don't have much use for those either.
The US military is Barrets main customer, that and private sales to individuals. Not state police departments.
I was under the impression he just sent it back unserviced but am not sure. They used to have the story on the barrett website but don't see it there now. Here's the letter:I heard he sent the chief a letter telling him to come pick up his rifle because he wasn't going to fix it and he wasn't going to spend his money to ship it back. Anyone verify this?

It saddened me to have to tell members of the LAPD SWAT team that they would have to send someone for their rifle, because I refused to assist anyone or any organization that is in violation of the United States Constitution. In turn, the department arranged to pick up their un-serviced rifle.

I remember hearing about Mr Barrett granting an interview to "60 Minutes", and really letting Mike Wallace or whoever have it. I'd love to see the actual interview, anyone know if it's available anywhere? I can't access anything worth watching at work.............
Sounds like he refused to send it back and that LAPD arranged a pick up of some type.
Not to drift this thread, but according to the CBS news story from '05, the Branch Davidians FIRED a .50 BMG rifle at the feds, leading them to bring in more heavy artillery, tanks and such. I've long known the possession of the 50 was listed as one of the reasons for the raid, but I've never heard anyone claim it was fired at the Feds. Anybody know?
What did Chief Boisse Correa do? I can't open the link.
