About a month ago I traded a Keltec PF9 for a Rossi model 461 revolver.

This is a blued steel 6 shooter chambered in .357 Mag with a 2" barrel, built on a frame a little smaller than a S&W K (I believe). I have put a number of rounds through the gun, including a few of the remington 125 JSP's that are supposed to be fairly warm-loaded. Recoil is very manageable with my size, the weight of the gun, and the excellently designed rubber grips, and the gun did not seem any worse for wear afterward.

What I am left wondering is, based on this guns construction, what would be a reasonable limit to put on the types of .357 I should expect this gun to digest? I don't plan on abusing it, but should it be safe for me to fire a limited number of heavy .357 loads in this gun? Specifically, I would like to try a few of the Buffalo Bore 180gr hard cast loads, but only if I'm not going to shoot my gun to bits within a 20 round box.

Rossi revolvers have a reasonably good reputation, but why tempt fate? The .357 is a wonderful self-defense round in its normal loadings. Going for a few hundred extra feet per second won't really matter much in the grand scheme of things. I would shoot .38 Special or .38 Special +P out of it for practice and carry a moderate .357 round for self-defense.
