I picked up a beautiful little Rossi 720 .44 special w/ 3" barrel and unfluted cylinder. the only thing i don't like about it are the rubber grips. Looks like a pair of S&W K frame Square butt grips might fit with a little tweaking. I don't currently have a pair to try on it though. Does anyone know what grips are compatible with this gun?

Thanks in advance.

Apparently not. Too bad, I have one too, and while I REALLY like the grip that came with it, it would be nice to be able to experiment. Holsters haven't been easy to find either.

Yes I realize it's an old thread, but that's what I get for searching for "Rossi 720".:scrutiny:

Talk about resurrecting old threads.

This model was sold with fluted or unfluted cylinder, with fixed or adjustable sights, with bobbed or standard hammer, and with wood or rubber grip.

It's from a time before Rossi was bought by Taurus and so there is no warranty service. I don't know of anybody who works on them even for pay, or might have parts.

It's my favorite handgun to shoot, it's a shame S&W never made a similar gun. The 696 comes closest but it's an L frame, larger than the 720 which is k-frame sized.

I tried a Taurus 445 and it was not nearly so much fun to shoot (the steel version, not titanium). I am looking for the fixed sight version to go with this one, I saw one once with the wood grip. I knew then I shoulda bought it.

I prefer the fluted cylinder, but that would be acceptable either way I guess.

Perfect carjacking medicine.

Idahoser, I'm taking possession of one of those Rossi 44's today (I hope) I'm buying it sight-unseen from a buddy, I pounced as soon as he mentioned he might sell it. I had a Taurus (445?) years ago, let my son-in-law have it for a house gun and the idiot sold it. :cuss: The only thing I didn't like about it was the huge rear sight blade, it tore up my love handles something fierce because I couldn't find a decent holster for it.

IIRC the grips for the Taurii and the Rossis are interchangeable, I'm pretty sure they are the same guns with different markings. I wound up making a set after copying the inletting off the stock grips, but they cracked after about six months, and I put the Goodyears back on until I got rid of it.

I don't know what configuration this gun is, all he could remember was that it's stainless (hooray!) but I don't know if it's fixed sights or not, fluted or unfluted. All I know is that he has barely shot it because the ammo costs too much, and his asking price was $175 LESS than I was prepared to offer. :D

I passed one today at $200 in nice shape, rubber grips. I'm broke and have other gun stuff coming up but I'm probably gonna regret though I do have a Taurus model 431 3".

Go back and get it, for 200 you can resale it later for more money when you need it.:banghead:

It end up being like $246otd. I tried to get my dad to go get it but he didn't want it.
