I bought myself a Rossi 971 357 mag today. Anyone else have one? Your thoughts of this gun? I chose it over a used S&W 357mag the S&W looked a little worn out. The Rossi looks brand New and both were the same price.($279)

I've owned 3 over the last 4-5 years, 1 was new and 2 used ones. They proved to be decent for what i paid for them plenty accurate,i paid $89.00 for one in a pawn shop with about 5% blueing remaining but tight,i never did get it to shoot loose with my very warm reloads.I think you did alright for yourself.

Yep,89 bucks at a local pawn shop,i started cleaning it with gunscubber i got a bunch of runny brown goop out of it.2 cans later it seemed clean,i lubed it and it seemed to be fine but looked real beat, like someone had sand blasted it to remove the bluing. Turned out to be a decent shooter.I paid 199.00 for a blued 4" and my last one was a 2.5" stainless for 249.00.the biggest problem was trying to find replacement grips for them.

Hi, I picked mine up at a local pawn shop while looking for a house revolver for the wife . Bought it for $190 OTD. SS 2.5" barrel . Very tight . shoots .38 and .357 like a dream . I kept reading about buying a used S&W for between $150-200 . Ain't gonna happen around my area so I went with this little Rossi and am very pleased !.............WVleo

I just bought an ancient one....

It's a Rossi model M677; I believe it is the model before the 462 came along. It has the firing pin hammer and is a 6-shot .357 mag.

I got it for $120 and it shot like a dream. I recently got a better grip from a generous forum contributor.

I think if you can get ANY decent used handgun for less than $200, you got a good deal.

Is yours a 6-shot and what is the barrel length?

I believe your 677 came out in the middle 90's along with a stainless model called the 877.If i remember right they're a 2",fixed sights build on the same frame as the 971,decent gun for the money.

have had a 971 snubby for 8 or 10 years. shoots good and has not shot loose with a whole bunch of .357 going through it. if i see a 6" for sale, it will be mine. no flies on the 971.

Bpisler: I think U R exactly right....

It has an exactly 2" barrel and looks identical, even down to the grip, to the newer mod 461. Mine has "interarms" stamped on the side, the company in New Jersey that imported that particular model.

It points, shoots, and has as good a trigger as any snubby I've ever owned.

I think they're the same exact guns except for some markings and the model number which were changed when taurus and rossi merged.
