Hey everybody;

I just found this forum and I love it.

I have a Rossi 971 in .357 with a 4" barrel. I have recently started shooting IDPA and I'd like to use my Rossi (alternating with my S&W 469 9mm) but I need an IDPA compliant holster. I've been searching and haven't had much luck.

Is there a gun that is similar to mine that is similar enough that I could use the same holster? A friend had mentioned that a holster for a S&W K frame would work, so I ordered one from Fobus, but no luck. Size seemed right, but apparantly the design is different since the gun wouldn't even go into the holster. I'd like to use a fobus syle, but am flexible. I really don't want a thumb break though, slows down my draw.

Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks in advance.

Very nice! I'm considering one of these for a ccw.

Fortunately, I don't labor under the testosterone-fueled false-impression that it takes a .45 caliber bullet driven by fistfuls of powder to seriously injure someone.

If you doubt the deterring capabilities of a .22, go ask someone who's been gently gut-shot in .22 lr for their impressions of the experience.

Enjoy the new piece!

Thanks Hoosier, I've had this gun for years, just I usually only carry it when I'm hunting and I usually use an old duty rig for it. Not suitable to IDPA, so now I need to find a holster for it that is.

Well that was downright bizarre.

I apologize. My last post was supposed to go in an entirely different thread. I'm sure I don't know what happened to get it into this one!

If it's a newer Rossi,it's made by Taurus...try to find a Taurus that's the same size,and look for a holster for it.Or maybe even give Rossi a call.I'm surprised that the k frame holster didn't work.I use a leather k frame holster for my Rossi 461.Of course leather is more forgiving than Kydex.I love Rossi's and Taurus's,but finding things like holsters and speedloaders can be a PIA.BTW,I use my 461 in IDPA often.It's super accurate for a 2" gun.I do use speedloaders for a k frame too.In fact I havn't shot it in a while,and yesterday I took a few shots in the back yard with it,and remembered how much I like it.good luck with the search.
oh yeah try this site,they have a Rossi Firearms section:
