Rossi, that's right, you all read it correctly so don't stroke out.

I've been going back and forth between choosing the RB22 (bolt action) or the Rio Bravo (lever action), both in 22LR. The Rio Bravo is roughly $100 more than the RB22 with the latter typically running under $200.

I've had a variant of the Rossi bolt action and I was quite happy with it. It's not the nicest gun on the rack, but mine was very accurate and 100% reliable.

Honestly, I think it comes down to which action type do you want to play with it? Do you like straight stocks or pistol, grips? etc etc.

Purely based on aesthetics, I actually like the bolt better than the synthetically stocked lever. But I have a Model 39TDS, so that introduces a bias. I also prefer a clip over a tube for a working 22. I always want to keep working the action on a tube until the magazine is dry, particularly on a semi-auto or lever. It is a personal failing.

I bought a rio bravo last fall and I really like it. It pulls up fast and fits. The open sights were kind of course so I scoped it. The accuracy is good. My only complaint was the trigger pull was a little to much, but after some polishing it's excellent.

When I see those two, I can’t help but also think of the Rossi Gallery gun.

I got the RB22 Compact. Stock was TOO small, but the normal size RB22 stock was < $30.

The compact has a shorter threaded barrel and it makes an awesome suppressor host.

I have not found the ammo it likes best yet, it tends to like CP HV for accuracy. Still not nearly as accurate as my RS22 or anything that says Marlin, Henry, or Ruger. Best groups are still about 1.5" at 50 yards.

Why would someone stroke out? I have no issue with either one. Depends on your usage which one to choose. Each has their own advantages and disadvantages. I would probably go with the bolt gun. If you still can't choose, may I recommend a quarter?

I see that the OP has already made a decision, but for what it's worth (seeing that my opinion is offered post-decision and worth what you've all paid for it), of the two listed in the opening post, I'd have gone with the lever gun. However, that's mainly because I don't own a lever gun.

This will be my very first lever gun that I've owned. One of the first rifles I shot (other than bolt action 22s) was a lever action 30-30 a friend owned. I was 15 or 16 at the time. That was the same day I shot my first 12 gauge, we were busy killing bottles.

It was a joke. ;)

My purpose for all my firearms is hunting paper and steel targets..........

Welcome to the start of your new affliction or addiction. 😉
Lever guns tend to multiply if you’re not careful…or even if you are. 🤣

As Rat said to Mole, “You what? Never? Well what HAVE you been doing?”

It showed up a day earlier than expected, that was nice. And amazingly it looks almost exactly like the stock photo I posted. Go figure, eh? I hit it with some Rem Oil to make the smooth action even smoother and it's got a honey of a trigger. I'm happy!
