Rossi Triple Black

Looks like Rossi is joining the tactical lever craze. Based on their 92 line and as far as I can tell only offered in 357 and 44 mag. Fewer features than either the Marlin or Henry but at a lower price too. Haven't seen any definite information on the stock material or barrel twist but from pictures it appears to be synthetic.

I like the Rossi setup a lot more than the Henry X, but they are all overpriced. Why is it that all other types of firearm are offered as a base model with black synthetic grips/stock but lever actions are the anomaly where plastic is the expensive option?

All I can say is the Henry is butt ugly, the Rossi is just ugly.

Another humongous loop lever. And the videos I've seen that proclaim these large loops to make the gun "faster". I can't see how my speed increases if my hand has to move further before the lever cycles.

It would seem the premium isn't only in the trendiness of all black lever carbines, but the accessories added to those all black lever carbines.

In the case of the Triple Black ya gotta pay for the upcharge of the scout rail w/ peep sight, threaded barrel w/ thread protector, huge loop lever, and that series of huge knots tied onto that huge loop lever.

I'm still tryin' to figure out why such a series of huge knots are on that lever? Especially on the outside away from your operatin' hand?

I think the knots are for a brass knuckle effect when the chrome action lugs give away your tactical position...

At least it only costs a leg, so you’ve still got two hands to use.

The gigantic loop is bad, but a slightly oversized loop is great. I wear thick gloves and have big hands, makes my 336 hard to handle at times. I had a Henry 22 with a big loop and it was kinda overdone until I squished it a bit.

Somebody really needs to come up with a box magazine open top, a la Win 95, pcc that can be fed by stripper clips.

I'm wondering if that rail/ peep can be retro fitted to an older plain model 92. That'd be slick on my 16" 22 44mag 92.

I think it's interesting. No "prom queen" of course - but I wouldn't expect or ask it to be.

Price seems a bit steep, but I tend to appreciate factory peep sights on my lever guns so that softens the sting a little for me. The threaded barrel doesn't mean much to me personally, but would to some and is another plus I guess.

I didn't have any prior experience with large lever loops, but I bought one and was pleasantly surprised. So I'm willing to give this gun's a chance. On the whole I welcome the option.



On a related note: The .22 offerings in the link look interesting also. Except for the hideous trigger guard for the .22 pump. That vexes me quite a bit. It is a shame; the price is fair. Hope they can come up with something at least a little more traditional on that trigger guard!

Yeah, that trigger guard design doesn't fit that pump rimfire rifle at all! I guess it keeps buyers from looking at all those Phillips head screws. Only CZ pistols are allowed to have Phillips head (I mean Pozidriv) screws!

These are showing out of stock at various places but the price is listed around $625-$650. This gun will be under consideration for me along with the Henry and Marlin guns.
