Round count

I have about 80k hard rounds through my primary match gun, a 4" 686 revolver. It gave up a little of its guilt-edge accuracy around 60k rounds, but it's still plenty accurate. I'm using my back-up now, since the firing pin just broke. Otherwise, no issues.

I also have about 40 - 50k through my 4" 10-shot 617 revolver. It's developed a bit of a hump in the action due to some endshake, but some shims will fix that up, too. Otherwise, it's still a tack driver.

65K rds. through this (range gun).
Replaced extractor @ around 35K rds. and springs regularly.

Approaching 40K rds. in this one (also a range gun).
Replaced slide stop @ 25K rds.+ and springs.

We have 2 357 dan wesson revolvers and a colt huntsmann that could double the round count. All bought in the mid '70s

I have a twenty seven year old S&W 4506 that is as over the thirty thousand round mark. Never had an issue with it.

Hummm this one got me to thinking as I have lots of used guns over the years. But there wasn't a round count before I brought them.

The only documented round count is a pair of Ruger Vaqueros I currently own with around 15,000 each.

I have had a couple of minor problems with them over the years.

I had a problem early on with the cylinder base pin with one of them not latching and jumping the groove. It was very poor workmanship by Ruger with not fitting the parts. I easily fixed the problem by cutting the base pin groove deeper with a round file and as a precaution replacing the spring with a extra power one from Wolff. I corrected both guns at the same time.

The other problem was probably somewhere after 10,000 rounds. The gate latch spring seem to be getting weaker and letting the loading gate open slighty. Another new spring fixed the problem.

Approaching 60,000 through my S&W M22A, would be past it if not for the ammo shortage :(

Purchased late 2005, its the 7.5" fluted bull barrel model and one of the few pistols I can still shoot well with iron sights -- that extra length makes a lot of difference!

Its been back to S&W for repairs three times, broken firing pin, problems with the takedown "plunger" , crack in the top rail. They paid shipping both ways and fixed it quick. No complaints.

Les Baer Concept V (Top), 31K, still just about as tight as when I bought it. The slide/receiver feels like glass sliding on glass. The only things I've done was change the sights to FO front & plain black rear, change out the recoil spring every 3K and clean it about every 500-1000 rds.

Any of you smith and Wesson guys know if they will still repair their old revolvers. I shoot several hundred rounds per range session through my model 10. When it loosens up I'd like to get it tuned back up by the factory

Go to the S&W website and send them an Email with your question using the "contact us" link. Or you could give them a phone call. Their customer service is very good, but I'm not much of a revolver guy.

Uh, you guys keep track of how times you fire each of your guns???

Man, I guess I am way behind the times. I enjoy shooting and have no idea what my round counts are on any of my guns, including the one I bought new this year.

I've probably got at least 20,000 rounds if not 30,000 rounds through my S&W model 13 without a single malfunction or failure. Who knows how many I've shot through my Ruger Mark I, it hasn't even hiccuped during the last 30 or so years.

I stopped counting at 20k through my Ruger SB .44 Mag and that was over 15 years ago....no doubt its far north of 30k by now. I have brass for my original .44 Mag Blackhawk and used in the .44 Mag SB that is older than my kids (42 & 36)!

I have tens of thousands of rounds through my G35 (USPSA Limited) and my G17 (IDPA SSP). I have a USP with more than 70k though it. I was shooting 600+ per week for a while there.

spm, I don't count the rounds. Just keep your primer boxtops (1000ct) as you go along. Pretty easy to count those.

LOL, no, but when you reload it isn't hard to keep track at all, as long as you're not selling the stuff.

Only my Colt Mark IV pin gun has over 30K through it. It is still my most accurate handgun. Second would be my Colt Delta Elite, which has over 10K through.

That would make it easier. Unfortunately, I don't reload and I'm told that I don't need another hobby that requires more equipment in the basement.

I had this image of my next trip to the range going:
1 ...2 ...3-4 (Double tap).

I'm still laughing. I'll go to sleep tonight laughing at myself.

Do this: Get a container, and every time you buy a box of ammo, cut the flap off and drop it in the container -- that's what we handloaders do, except we buy primers in lots of 5,000 at a time. When we want to know how many rounds we've fired, we just count the slips of primers.
