RRA Star Safety Selector Installation Question

Has anyone installed one of these. I have one on its way to my door and was wondering if I'll need to remove the trigger group on my AR to install the star safety selector. I removed the grip, detent and spring but it seems the mil-spec selector won't clear the trigger.

I cant remember but either the hammer needs to be cocked or released
so the rear part of the trigger can clear the selector then it will slide right out.

I installed one with the hammer cocked.

I did try it with the hammer in the cocked position but it still seems to hang on the trigger. I'm hoping I wont need to remove the pin from the trigger group.

Maybe this will help? The selector goes in after the hammer and trigger. You should only need to remove the pistol grip, spring and detent.

With the hammer cocked and the selector in the fire position, I have already removed the grip, spring & detent as a first step. My problem is that it still wont come out. It does wiggle side to side but it wont slide out. Surely I don't need to get out the punch.

I did one of these several years ago on a buddys' AR but I remember it being a simple install:banghead:

Problem solved.

Apparently the geometry of my custom cut lower was a liitle tight when compared with other lowers on hand.

A very, very, slight tap with a brass punch is all it took. I wanted to save the punch as a last resort.
