Even as a new gun owner the first thing I did when I got my S&W m67 was to replace the factory wood grips with a Hogue. I previously tried the larger wood target grips which cover the backstrap but I do not have very large hands. Lengthening the distance between my palm and the trigger made for a more difficult trigger pull and the Hogue's backstrap is kept at the same distance, allowing a shorter distance the trigger.

I also prefer wood grips when possible (and properly fitted to my hand) but for the money, I just couldn't find a more comfortable grip.

I prefer Pachs. I've tried Houges, but I don't like that exposed backstrap. I just find the Pachs are better for recoil control on my large framed revolvers. My snubbies all have the wood grips on them. I find the old J-frame wood grips are better for conealment purposes. Now I do have Houges on a couple of my semi-autos, but of course that's comparing apples to oranges.

Buyer Beware!

For revolvers I always thought Pachmayr was pretty good, but for pistols their grips suck. About 3 months ago I ordered a slip-on grip for a glock G21 SF. I got it and started to slip it on and part of it ripped off. I called them and told them what happened and they said they would send me another one. I waited 2 weeks and called them again and they told me they were out of stock, but they would send me another one when they got them in stock. It's been 3 months now and the last time I called they told me they couldn't find my order number anywhere and would not send me a replacement. OK, so I lost a few bucks, but they lost all my business and I have advised the gun-shops I frequent about Pach's poor customer service. So they lost my business and that of other people I know because of their bad service. Buyer Beware!
