Which rubber grips covers the round butt j frame backstrap? Not wanting oversized or laser grips, nor wood. Got pix please share.

Pachmayr Compacs for me. They still make the model with the pinkie groove for the J-frame (the Ruger 32 wears hard polymer Hogues because Pachmayr doesn't offer the same grip style for the SP101.) Since this photo was taken, I've sold the Charter and added a Colt Dick Special and another M60 S&W (also with Compacs.)

Yes I have a set of those. I was thinking about adding another one, but was just wondering if there was another version that was a little more trim but still covered the backstrap.

I've had the Hogue rubber grips on my 642-1 for around 20 years now. Little on the large size but work great for me. 20220919_100809.jpg

Already oversized in my opinion. If I had room for a cushy grip, I'd have packed a bigger gun.

I am very partial to my Pachmayr Compac Professional grips. The Hogue overmold will delaminate in a single hot summer, and the factory S&W will ooze sticky schmoo in the same time. The Compac will last until they're worn smooth.

Pachmayr has several options for the J-frames but most are a bit larger the the Uncle Mike’s grip that were S&W OEM grips many years ago.

Even so, I like them. I’m not fond if Hogue’s but its a personnel preference.

For the SP101, I like Ruger’s rubber grip with space for grip panel inserts on both sides of the grip.

Hogue is probably the best bet. Easy to find, not to expensive (in case you decide those aren't for you).

My S&W model 63 came with the grip @fxvr5 posted. I swapped it with a Hogue Monogrip.

The Monogrip is just a little beefier and it doesn’t feel like my pinky finger is gripping nothing.

For a J frame grip size comparison here is my model 36 with factory grip and a BK Adapter next to a Hogue Monogrip.

Here is the 36 with Monogrip installed. I have since switched it back to the factory grip with the adapter. The Monogrip was installed on the model 63.

I like that grip but can't find it for sale on their site.

Right. Contact them directly, email or phone and they'll give you the product number. I did this and then had to call them to make the order.

Here is my correspondence with them in 2020. But be sure to check the product number.

They only come in black.

The part number for the grips are 413040000. To place an order please call 800-331-0852 Ext 4125 for assistance.
