Just know love any where for the Thunder Bolts. thats just more for me. never had any luck with Butler creek mags. but the Ram line 50 rounder works just fine.

I have never had a problem with my Ruger 10/22 extractors either. I have left all but one alone and I just modified that one with a file to look like the Volquartson one and it works perfectly as well.

On solution might to detail strip it and clean it real good and then dry everything off and put if back together with no oil at all. The 10/22s are made to run dry and oil in the works causes malfunctions.

also, i notice an odd pattern where i will get more stovepipes and failure to ejects when i use mags without steel lips. i ran six 35 round mags through, every other one being steel lips. i had ZERO ftf's with the steel lips and repetitive jams with plastic/polymer lip mags. you wouldnt think this would cause an ejection/extraction problem, but with this 10/22 it does

I use CCI blazer .22lr 40gr in my 10/22, almost 1,000 rounds now and not a single jam. before you go playing with parts or buying all kinds of upgrades, just try some different ammo. 22's can be fickle.

I know this post is almost antique, but I have a progress report. The replacement of the factory extractor with a Volquartsen extractor seems to have cured the problem. Fired over 200 rounds last Sunday with ZERO malfunctions. I even mixed several different brands of ammo in the same mag to see if I could get it to choke. The subsonics were a real hoot. I could actually feel the bolt moving back and forth!! Thank you one and all for your help!

Little late on this. But for the people who don't like flushing $10+shipping down the crapper and don't mind using a metal file or dremel you can fix the extractor yourself in about 10 minutes, that includes everything.
Here is the bonus, if it does not work you can always buy the extractor. One hint about the VQ extractor, make SURE you use the Ruger spring and not the VQ, the VQ spring can cause more problems than before you started.
