I have a Ruger 10/22 Carbine. I was wondering what the difference between a regular 10/22 and the target version was aside from the heavier barrel. Does the target version have a better trigger? My 10/22 trigger feels kind of gritty and not precise. Also, aside from Magnum Research, are there any other companies that make 10/22's? Are they better than the Ruger? Thanks.

I am also unimpressed with the stock trigger on my 10/22. It is way above a 3lb trigger pull which is what i like in most rifle configurations. It just feels trashy especially after getting a savage with the accutrigger.

But to help with the OP's inquiry id say check out a drop in timney trigger for your carbine. Im pretty sure thats what im going to do with mine. they are a little bit spendy but worth it in my opinion.

kidd makes everything... their own 10/22 recievers, barrels, triggers, bolt, and spring kit; everything you need to assemble into a complete 10/22. I have their trigger, bolt, and spring kit, very fine products, and the anodizing on the trigger is hard anodized for a very rugged finish. As far as I know its all made by them in texas.

To answer your question, the couple of rugers factory heavy barreled target models I have been able to shot or watch have been very good shooters . Like most 22's you will have to find the ammo yours likes best and the match grade does pay off for the best groups more times than not. You can take a regular ruger 10/22 and a with around a 200 dollars + scope get a one whole groups at 25yard 22. Boyd stocks has both wood and composite stocks at cheap prices. The low cost center point 4 to 16 power at wally world seem to work well. I have had great luck with a 20" SS Green Mountian barrel. Some complain about them. I bought the barrel for under 100 bucks, the stock for under 75 and the scope for with weaver mounts for under a 70 and last a hammer sear and spring for under 60 dollars. Get a caolog from midway usa to start. Fun gun to shoot. Standard run ammo is good for up to 1/2" and federal and wolf match ammo good for under 1/4" at 25 yards and 1/2" at 50 yards on a good day for me. Wife shoots better. The stock ruger taget models would do the same thing. GO TO RIMEFIRE CENTRAL and read around. Become a member there. A member on the site can turn your skinny stock barreled gun in to a real good shooter too. A member at a local range can ring a 8" plate a 200 yards reliable with what looks like a stock cheapy ruger with a real good scope. Have fun

My question is simply this: does a Ruger 10/22T have a better trigger than the other Ruger 10/22 carbines/rifles? Thanks for the responses thus far.

Yes sir it does. It isn't as nice as the Volquartsen I replaced it with, but it is better than the base models by quite a bit. I used it on the next suppressed plinker build, and don't think I will change it.

Rimfire Central forum is the best place to go for TONS of information. They have specific sections of the forum devoted to each part of the 10/22.

Excellent. I plan on getting one and putting an integral suppressor on it. I just wanted to make sure the target models had a better trigger or if I should just put the suppressed barrel on the carbine model that I have now.
