Ruger 10/22 trigger guard moves side to side.

I disassembled my 10/22, cleaned it, than put it back together.

Now, my trigger guard can be moved from left to right a good bit. When I put the mag in, it tightens up some, but still wiggles. (Enough to play hell with accuracy)

I looked at the Midway Schematic but I can't seem to find anything missing.

Any ideas?

Your trigger group is sloppy in the receiver. Most 10/22's are that way. I used fiber washers to correct it.

Well, the gun is from 1992. ;>

Did you put the washers on just one side of the receiver?

Yep, they were the thinnest I could find in fiber. It holds tight with zero slop.

Excellent, I looked all over after I took it apart originally and never found any missing pieces. But I did find one small black rubber washer that I had no idea where it came from.

Since the slop didn't start til after my cleaning, I reckon they fell out.

My first one did the same thing! I thought it was broken then realized it was just the nature of the beast. I mixed up some JB Weld ...dipped an arts/craft paint brush in it and made a thin narrow path along the trigger guard. That was 1994..Still wobbleless today!
