Ruger 10/22

Some of y’all might have read my thread on the primers , powder , bullets and reloading equipment that I recently bought form a guy getting out of reloading and shooting it looks like . He is a former Marine and a heck of a nice man . He offered his 35 year old Ruger 10-22 , with a Simmons scope , extra magazine in the packaging and the soft case for $200 dollars yesterday . It looks like new in the picture . If I didn’t already have one , or spent all that money on the reloading stuff I probably would have snatched it up by now .

I only have 2 10/22s, so I might have had to scrounge up $200 for that one. That's a good-looking rifle.

He is severely limiting his options. I would bet there is more than one prospective buyer out there who would be more than happy to pay for shipping.

Go to an FFL; discuss what packaging and shipping would cost; many are used to doing this however there are some who will try to take advantage.

Buyer pays the tariff. Everybody is happy.

I called one of my friends and he bought it and is meeting him Monday to pick it up and do the FFL transfer . Yes , VA requires a FFL on private party sales now . It’s easy to sell a gun at a low price . Most people that I see selling their used guns are asking about what they paid for them .

Ha ha, nice deal! Problem with a 10/22 is once you have one you go down the rabbit hole of upgrades, like an AR. At least for some of us. I got one and after all my changes I bought a BRN22 receiver and ruger bolt and had another new 10/22 for one of my sons.But if you only did one change do the mag release. IMO

Forgot about a newer model I had.
Got it used and found a blem Mannlicher stock (from supplier).
And luckily the blem was out front, so chopped it and got a low comb sporter w grip cap and reg buttpad.
Like curved butts but not on rifles LOL

BTW I prefer the orig mag release. On the newer ones can shorten the plastic tab, or swap to orig.
First thing I do is drop in a Volq hammer, then see how it does.
Often thats all thats needed.
My ol lady's 50th Anniv standard blued/grey 1022 shoots decent, with only a hammer upgrade.
Unfortunately I had a sporter and a standard, old ones, where they shot better, but not good enough.
Bedding and other..........didn't help much.

Why I got out of the 1022 game.
Like a fingergroove and would like to build one w a GM 20" sporter bbl.
Alas, no stocks like the old sporters in synth (except maybe a McMillan).
Nobody doing repro walnut anymore.

If I dump my Savage MKii TR I may try one last money pit 1022 as a sporter build.

That is a beautiful rifle. I imposed a no buy any more 10/22 rule for myself, just darn to expensive after I'm done modifying them. They are addictive.

Heck I almost trade for one two days ago that was in a lot worse shape and without the extras for $250. $200 is a steal for the gun, mag, and case (and scope).
