Got a question for all of you Ruger .22 fans out there. Are the upper for the various Ruger .22 pistols interchangeable? I've been told that the MK II and MK III are interchangeble. Are the MK III and 22/45 also interchangeable?

Just wondering...

I have a Ruger Mark III Competition

My best friend has a 45/22 Ruger. Don't know what the compatibility of the two are. All I know is my Mark III with CCI Mini-Mags shoots inside whatever my buddy can muster. I have the advantage of a Bushnell Trophy Red Dot for blasting a ragged hole through the 10x ring at 50 feet. Unfair advantage, you might say, but I'm trying to talk him into a red dot. He only has a 4" barrel, while I have a 6 7/8" launcher. 45 ounces of pistol weight seems excessive until one sees the results downrange. cliffy

I believe the uppers are basically all the same but the peening that tightens the upper to the lower at the front for individual fit may prevent interchanging easily.

I bought one of the Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite uppers for my Ruger. They told me it would fit on either the MarkIII or the 22/45. So I believe that they can be interchanged.

Wouldn't one need to figure out how to disassemble the pistol in order to answer your question? :p

I have a MK II and a 22/45 and asked Ruger directly and was told that the uppers are not interchangeable. I wanted to use my 6 7/8 " bull barrel from my MK II on the 22/45 frame and that's how I know.

+1 and because some fitting is probably needed is why Ruger told highlander 5 they won't swap out.
That said, I have one Mark II top end that fits well on my 22/45; others don't work so well.

Greg

Interesting. Thanks for all of the advice.

ScareyH22A: I have no problems with the disassembly. It's the reassembly that gets me all confused...
