I have the new Ruger 380 LCP, and I thought I read where you should not load FMJ ammo. I can't seem to find that anywhere online....even several posts saying it fires fine with FMJ.

My question, have you ever used the WalMart Winchester 380 ammo (white box) in one? It seems like a pretty good price to practice with. About $38 for a box.

Thank You in advance for your help!

Yup.... worked just fine in mine. In fact, everything I put through it did!

Works fine in mine... as does Magtech FMJ, Fiocchi FMJ, and Hornady TAP. That's all I've tried so far. The winchester stuff has a kind of flat nose on it. Where did you think you read that you couldn't use FMJ?

I can't speak for the OP, but there is a point of view the .380 is too weak as a self defense round in most common FMJ, and only hollow points should be used.

Conversely, some say only the heaviest FMJ rounds are worthwhile for penetration and weight.

Personally, I think shot placement is best.

Thanks to all for the reply. I must have "dreamed" the FMJ deal....looks like alot of you have used it OK.

By the way, everything else I have tried worked great in this gun.
