Ruger American in .30-06 is $20.00 more than a 10/22

t's amusing to watch individuals attack that which they do not understand

I was referring to this last part of your statement. If you read my entire post I sited the "injection molded process" in the post as well.

I will end my posting on this thread with this last statement. Those are two specialty stocks, and I'm not up to date on the savage stock however I do read a lot of people drilling holes in the stocks adding aluminum or steel rods to increase rigidity. The houge stock is not very rigid, many 10/22's will literally rock back in forth in the stock however that's not a bad thing with these types of stocks as only one action screw will not cause as much stress to the stock.

It seems you have as much like to these types of stocks as I have dislike, it just goes to show you not everyone likes, wants or even knows about the same products.

You were wrong when you said "Polymer stocks are really crap..." That's pretty much it in a nutshell.

I got a Ruger GSR that would put most of your rifles to shame. Rechambered in a compeition match grade Shillen barrel.

Aragon, is it me, or are you always picking a fight, or telling people they are wrong?

It seems most responses to your questions are in good nature, only to be fired back upon with negativity by yourself.

FYI there is no need for an apostrophe in your signature. Maybe a comma or two....

I like the RA (Ruger American) for what it is.... A budget rifle. Could even be the best budget rifle (and most expensive sometimes) available. The stock is the trade off for price however. It is just OK.... Serviceable and nothing more.

The stock on my Remington ADL is far and away a much better stock.

Ruger American is a great rifle for the $$$. I however just don't like how they fit in my hands. In fact I don't really like any of the budget rifles stocks. But I have a Mossberg ATR 100 and for a rifle that was less than $400 it has the best IMO injection molded stock out of them all.

However, the best factory synthetic stock on a rifle that is less than $600 is the Tikka T3 stocks...

I have the Ruger American compact in .308 and I am very pleased. It shoots sub MOA groups and I have had no issues with the stock or feeding. It's not as pretty as my 700 BDL or Belgian BAR but that doesn't make it a bad gun. I'm proud to have it.

I'd much rather a "ugly" rifle that shoots cloverleafs than to have a beautiful wood stock and deep bluing and it won't hit the broadside of a barn...because when it comes to filling my freezer I'll take accuracy 100% of the time.

I very much relate with your comments. I have a Ruger American (not the compact, but with I did) plus a M700 in .30-06 and a BAR in .300 WM. All three have their strengths and weaknesses. More often then not I'll grab the Ruger because it shoots well and it's easier to lug around than the other two.
