Just bought a Ruger Bisley in 45Colt, 7.5 inch barrel blued. I like the way the grip fits my hand vs the Vaquero grip which is a bit short for me. And I like the heavier Blackhawk frame too which allows for some pretty stout loads should I want to up the power. Took it out and tried my hand at 25 yards, and it did pretty good for my first time with a single action-I really like the sights. The trigger out of the box is pretty nice, and promises to work in with time. The only issue I had was the rear sight began walking to the left. The loads I put together were not really stout-11 grains of AA5 which was the only pistol powder I had on hand with a 255 grain LSWC. I did see the groups going left and at first thought it was just me, but when I examined the sight, the rear leaf was all the way to the left. All I had available to me was an eyeglass screwdriver, but it fit the windage screw and I cranked it in, then backed it off bringing the leaf back to center. Is this normal for Rugers to do this? Is there a fix I can employ or should I replace the rear sight?

I bought new Blackhawk recently. I noticed the rear sight was cranked all the way to the left as it came from Ruger.

I just visually centered it, and fine tuned while shooting.

Haven't ever had a rear sight walk itself left on any of my rugers though, and they all have the same looking rear sight.

I really like the Bisley grip. The hammer placement is great. I had three, including a pair of Vaquero's in .45 Colt.
I would give Ruger a call if you don't see an easy fix to the rear sight. It should not be moving.

I would call Ruger. I have two Bisleys that receive an almost exclusive diet of .45 Colt Ruger loads and have not experienced this. It is really easy to swap out the rear sight, so I would see if they'll just send you another one rather than have you send in the gun. You could also try a dab of loctite or similar if you don't plan to mess with the sights much. If all else fails, a new rear sight is about $12.

Thanks Gents. I wasn't certain as to whether this was a common problem or not. My research did not really find anything, so I will likely call Ruger and see what they have to say about it. In the meantime, I am going out today to try some heavier loads to see exactly what it does.

I have never had the actual blade on my sights "walk" one way or the other.
When you adjust it, can you feel the detents in the windage screw? There should be 4 clicks pre revolution. If the ball is missing that might be a reason the sight blade is walking.

If it happens again, call Ruger CS. They will make it right.
