I have enjoyed my 357/9mm and my 45/45 convertibles for more than 30 years. At what I consider reasonable ranges, the accuracy of the guns is more than adequate.
For me the biggest benefit is being able to buy cheap 9mm or 45 acp ammo for practice. My practice is hitting an 6" paper plate at various distances ranging from 3 yds. to 25 yds. Since I no longer reload, shooting 38/357 or 45 Colt loads could become cost prohibitive. With bulk packs of 9mm and 45acp I can practice more often at a reasonable cost. Recoil being different, I do shoot .357 loads and heavy 45 Colt loads every so often.
I've had my Ruger 357/9mm convertible for about three years now. love it! In fact, I had it out on the range just yesterday. I ended up putting about 75 rounds down range of a hand load that wasn't too hot, but a pleasure to shoot. I threw on a Tuff1 grip just to add more control. That's a combo made in heaven!
Do yourself a favor and buy the gun! You won't be disappointed.
I've got the 357/9mm with 6.5 inch barrel (45 convertible and SS6 too.) It's a great gun although the only time I shoot the 9mm cylinder is when I chronograph my 9mm reloads. The rest of my 9mm ammo is shot through my auto pistols. It's got to be one of the strongest 357 revolvers extant. It doesn't give as much velocity boost to the 9mm as you would think but it does increase velocities of 357 by over 100 fps in most loads over my four inch GP100.
