On sale at a Big Box store for $230.00. I have Ruger's, but no knowledge of this model. Any opinions?
I'm interested in opinions on this gun, too. Wifey is looking for her first pistol, and absolutely loves my Sec-9. Looks like the little bro of that gun, judging by the take down pin...
The EC9S rusts if I look at it funny. Well made but certainty budget in nature.

You could do a lot worse. The original LC9 had a true DAO trigger with a very heavy trigger pull for each shot. I sold mine pretty quickly. The LC9s replaced it with a "Glock type" trigger. Technically DAO, but with a quite light trigger pull. Almost too light. Those come with a 1911 style safety and I'd not want to carry something with a trigger pull that light without one.
The EC9s is a slightly more economical pistol that the LC9s. The differences are very small, as is the price difference. I could be happy with either version.
Mine was quite accurate and easily concealed. I sold mine to fund a Sig 365 which I do like better, but at double the cost it isn't for everyone. But I'd not feel handicapped in the least with the Ruger. The Sig is smaller still, but with standard 10 round mags and 12 round mags available compared to the 7 round LC9s.
I bought the LC9S Pro a few years ago for IIRC $260. The trigger is outstanding, it has no mag disconnect, has dove tailed sights and as others have said “no manual safety”. I carry it more often than anything else. I like the gun, to me it’s the right size for a CCW. I put a Hogue boot on it which helps View attachment 931035
I would NOT recommend it, and I don't understand why others on this forum only would recommend it when there are better options for the money.
Once you buy the extra mag, your in the M&P Shield 1.0 price range which is a much, much better pistol IMHO. The Shield has more aftermarket support, has a better more durable nitrited finis, a stainless slide under that finish, ships with two mags, has real adjustable/customizable steel sights, can be purchased with or without a thumb safety, and there's no magazine disconnect all for basically around the same price as the EC9s.
- It feels cheap and not as robust vs its competitors.
- It has a terrible finish that rust easy when the competition is nitriding their slides.
- The slide is carbon steel which is more prone to rusting when the competition is using stainless steel slides.
- It has a thumb safety AND a non standard magazine disconnect safety that will NOT allow the gun to fire a round if the mag isn't inserted or becomes slightly ajar.
- It has nonstandard milled in sights instead of actual sights, so they can never be changed or adjusted.
- Last but not least, it it only ships with one magazine whereas every other one of it's competitors ship with at least 2 if not 3. That is, the $230 price tag is misleading because you'll most likely will want to buy at least one more mag.
