Hi guys, I'm new to the boards here so I apologize if this topic has been covered before. My old man has a 4" GP 100 that he currently uses as his sidearm when he's out deer hunting. He's got a cheap belt holster but apparently it gets in the way of his safety vest when he's up in his stand and he can't get to the gun very easily. I'd like to get him a thigh holster for it for Christmas, I've looked on Google and found one but I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions. I'd like to get one for myself as well (I've got the same gun), but I'm a lefty and it looks like those are hard to come by. TIA.

Thigh holsters are about as inconvenient and uncomfortable as a holster gets. Might want to consider a crossdraw or chest holster like the El Paso 1942 Tanker rig or the Chesty Puller setup from Simply Rugged.

+1

Nothing like walking into your deer stand in the morning with a 2 1/2 pound chunk of steel beating on your leg muscles every step and the strap around your leg wearing blisters.

Thigh holsters might be a necessary evil for someone wearing ballistic armor, or the hero of a video game.

For a walking hunter, they are brutal!
