Is it alright to shoot .38spl out of this particular revolver? I already know 357 is a long 38, but want to be safe.
Also how do you remove the grips? Just unscrew the screws on either side of the grips?
Anything else I should know about this revolver?

Yes any 357 mag will also shoot 38 spl. Check the cylinder after firing 38 spl in it, thya sometimes leave a ring of residue in the chamber making it hard to load 357 mag rounds. A quick cleaning will take care of it.
As for the grips, yes take out the screw and remove, be aware there is a small rod inside the grips used in the take down of the revolver, don't loose.
Read your owners manual or go to Rugers web site for disassembly instructions and cleaning tips.
Always make sure it is unloaded before doing anything but shooting it.

As Dwarren said, just keep your gun clean and the "rings" won't be a problem. I shoot .38 special in my GP-100 constantly and have never had a ring problem.

I'm trying to sell my Smith & Wesson model 10 to a friend of mine because I really don't need a 4" .38 when I already have a GP-100. I also find the GP-100 to be more ergonomic than a K-frame, and the trigger is better
