I have two GP100s. My stainless gun is older and my GP-141 (black) is very new, with approximately 300 rounds through it. I took both guns apart to clean them. I reassembled both and the hammer on the GP-141 only moves 1/4" back when I pull the double action trigger. I can fully cock it manually. The stainless gun works fine.

I disassembled both guns multiple times. I compared each gun during each step of the process. The trigger group on the GP-141 seems to be functioning identically to the stainless gun's trigger group. The hammer block and hammer spring struts appear to be in the correct location.

What would cause the hammer to stop moving when the trigger is pulled? What do I need to check internally? How do I fix it?

RESOLUTION:

I called Ruger and gave them a description of the problem. They had UPS pick it up on November 4, 2013 and it arrived today, November 21, 2013.

The receipt said they did the following:

Adjusted trigger guard fit
New hammer
New Pawl
Refinished
Smoothed out action

Repair, safety function check and test firing have been completed.

The trigger is really nice!

You can see the latch is stuck inside the frame prior to the repair. After the repair, the latch extends back past the frame.
