Ruger LC9s?

I bought one for my daughter as a graduation gift. She and I both liked it so much that I bought a second one for myself. I just took it to range the weekend and was very disappointed in its performance with hollow point ammo. It seems like any of my hollow points get jammed up. There doesn't seem to be any issue with RN or TC rounds.

Upon inspection, I could see where the rounds were actually leaving streaks of copper on the feed ramp. I cleaned it good and, sure enough, it cycled fine for a couple of dozen rounds before jamming up again. I have been reading about this being a common issue. I am going to polish the feed ramp as some on other boards have recommended but I was curious if any one here has experienced this problem.

I have to say, for a tiny little compact gun, it sure shoots well and has a nice trigger right out of the box. Unfortunately, if I can't get it to cycle hollow points, it kind of makes it useless for CC.

Mine has yet to have a failure using FMJs, but I admit I haven't tried hollow points, yet. Sounds like @DaveTNC has had success with Critical Defense and Gold Dots (among a variety of ammo). I already have those in my ammo inventory, so I'll test those out next time I take it to the range.

I forgot to mention that the trigger doesn't feel right for me, but maybe that's because I'm used to glock. It just seems way too light for a sd pistol. Too much take up too.

Mine's never had a single failure with any ammo. I've had mine since end of last year, shoot it weekly and have over 800rds through it.

To be fair, and honest, while I've tried tons of target ammo the only HP's I've run through it are Sig V-crowns, which is what I run in all my defensive guns. Never had a problem though.

The bullets with issues are the Montana gold 124 grain jacketed hollow points. Even with them it is about 1 in 20 or so. My concern is that they are very similar in shape and oal to the hornady critical defense rounds that i favor. Yes i have run a few of those through it but not enough for confidence and it gets expensive real quick.

My piece of junk harbor freight dremel knock off bit the dust so i have a new one on the way. I figure that it and some flitz paste will most likely do the trick.

I traded out my Browning BDM for an LC9s as my EDC. I usually open carry and the Browning was fine for that but I needed to wear a sports jacket if I wanted to CC. I have 3 extra mags and an inside the waistband holster plus a sticky which I carry in the small of my back. The trigger is awesome and it is quite accurate at 10 yards. Recoil is very mild even with +P loads. My wife loves it better than her Taurus UL85 or her S&W Model 36.

I've ran both Critical Defense and Gold Dots through mine without any issues, but have to admit that it's only been a few magazines of each. I usually start a range session by shooting the mag of defense rounds already in the gun, then shoot factory FMJ or coated cast reloads (so far they've been Blue Bullets 115 RN) for the rest of the session. That would be less than your "couple of dozen rounds" before you're seeing an issue, so maybe I just haven't shot enough of them continuously for that to happen.

Edit: I'd be curious to hear the results of the testing @everydefense does.

Bought my girlfriend one last year so she had a carry gun. It's cycled everything we've fed it, including hollow points. The trigger is real nice too.
