A couple weeks ago I picked up a new Ruger LCP .380. I love this little gun, it's great for when I have to "Suite Up" and carrying my favorite Glock 27 is not practical.

My question is how many of you carry it in a pocket holster ??? My Dad carries his in a pocket holster but I'm not fond of it. I've been carrying it in my front pocket with no other items inside that pocket and so far so good.

I carry occasionally in the front pocket, just depends on the pants I'm wearing and if it's comfortable in them.

I also carry a Ruger LCP when I'm not able to carry anything bigger like when wearing shorts and a tee shirt or hot weather when you don't want to wear a long sleeve ship out; so therefore I just carry it loose in my right front pocket. Most times I forget it's there and it has never "printed" even in slightly tight shorts(not my fault...wife shrinks things). I do check it every evening for "foreign matter" and clean it weekly. :)

"Suite up"? It's great for use in a suite? What about in a single room?
Or perhaps it suits carrying while wearing a suit in a suite? .... sweet! ;)

I prefer to carry 'pocket pistols' in holsters, either pocket type or IWB, covering the trigger.

Mowtownfire. It depends if you carry it with a round in the chamber. If you do, there is a risk that you will hit something or snag something with your pants that could set it off. You may think that is not an issue, but you never know what you could accidentally run up against with your leg. For that reason, I would recommend a pocket holster if you do carry with a round in the chamber. It would be safer.

If you do not have a round in the chamber, it should not be a problem. Just the usual lint, etc. But you will have to rack it to load a round when you need it.

Thanks for all the helpful replies and the spell check calibration.

I always carry my G27 & this Ruger LCP with a round in the chamber. I am doing research online at the different pocket holsters available. When I first purchased my G23 & G27 years ago I tried a few different holsters before I finally found the one I like. I just don't like the one my Dad uses but I'm sure I'll find one that I like.

As of now due to the trigger having such a long & hard pull I'm not worried about any AD's but I know that anything is possible and can happen.

Thank you for the info guy's, keep it coming.

If you carry it in your pocket without a holster, with a round chambered, but with nothing else in the pocket, I'd say the likelihood of an accidental discharge due to something bumping the trigger through your clothing is infinitesimal. The long, heavy DA trigger really makes it nearly impossible.

That said, I prefer to carry mine using a DeSantis M44 "Superfly" pocket holster, because it retains the gun in the same position all the time.

I pocket carry almost 100% using

a DeSantis Nemisis holster. I carry either a Beretta Nano, Kahr PM9 or a Kahr P380. I always carry with a round chambered. I would not pocket carry with a round chambered without a holster.

I have a rear wallet/holster for my LCP but rarely use it as it's quite bulky. If i'm going to put up with the hassle of carrying IWB or OWB i see no reason not to go with something slightly bigger but almost as thin like a Khar or LC9. The only time i carry my LCP is while in jogging shorts or other attire that does not allow for something bigger. It then just goes in the front pocket.

Yeah sticking it in your pocket without a holster is probably safe, provided NOTHING else in that pocket EVER. But I think a holster is actually more comfortable, safer, and keeps it upright so easier to draw. That said I usually go IWB anyways. I use cheapo blackhawk holsters for pocket and IWB, but they serve me well!

I made a holster very similar to CZguy's. The only difference is that the gun's holster unsnaps from the "break up" flap so that I can carry it in a tighter pocket should I want to. AND the flap has a pouch to hold an extra magazine.

I wear it in my back pocket and it prints just like a wallet. It's my favorite carry piece.

I think it's smart to use a pocket holster to keep any lint from migrating to the nooks and crannies of your weapon. If you choose to fore-go a pocket holster, pull your pockets out before you wash. My LCP is my favorite EDC too! Good Luck

in Ga. a holster is mandatory with concealed carry. Also use the Nemesis for the LCP.
