It seems the LCP is a pretty reliable micro .380 and as a SD carry gun you always want to prove reliability of the gun you're going to carry.

So how many rounds would you feel comfortable shooting without a FTF to bet your life on it? This is kind of a conundrum.

First off, I need to shoot the SD ammo I plan on using, which is Hornady Critical Defense. I ordered up 200rds of it. I also ordered up 500rds of WWB. Now here's where I am debating myself. How many rounds do I break in with ball? 100? 200? Then how many rounds should I prove reliability with the Hornady? 100? 200? When does reliability start to decrease with round count on this little gun? 500? 1000?

Point being... it needs to prove 100% relibility with me. But all guns and especially smaller ones like this do wear themselves down with round counts. Things like springs get worn, extractors, etc... So when is it shooting it too much come into play?

Am I over analyzing this? :banghead:

Clean and lube gun You might start out slow These little suckers have bit of recoil try 50 rounds first . Don't try 150 rounds first day

Also lot of pistols don't like that WWB. ammo. I would shoot it all up. Then I would shoot at least 150 rounds of the CD That the ammo I would be concerned about As its the carry ammo . If that 150 good. I then shoot a new box of carry ammo all but one reload. If that box performs well then the last few rounds will likely also. I do this every time I replace carry ammo fire the old mag fire all but 1 reload of new box.

Some pistols don't like all brands I heard some complaints about the CD not feeding also. Might need to try other brands. All my 380 have Corbon DPX because it proved relieable in all my 380 from KelTec to Mustang to PPK/S Works every time.

I personally have tried a bunch of different FMJ and JHP ammo, and my LCP has run flawlessly with all of them except Cor-Bon 90 gr. JHP (the DPX worked fine) and Buffalo Bore JHP, which you're not supposed to use anyway.

I've gone through a few boxes of Speer gold dot and I think from now on I'll just stick with it... it seems to do as well as can be hoped in ballistics tests from what I've seen, and it runs perfectly in mine. I've carried it since the day I bought it... if I get through a box of ammo with no malfs I consider that ammo good to go. If I experience any issues I don't use that specific load again. YMMV.

Mines been reliable, and I mostly shoot WWB and my reloads. I only keep FMJ's in my .380's, so I cant really say about the fancy stuff. At this point, I have around 1000 rounds through mine with no issues.

I'd just shoot it and see how it goes. I dont think youll have any problems. I did stipple the grip on mine, which keeps it from moving around in my hand while I shoot, and its a lot easier to grab onto. Its not a hard gun to shoot, nor is it hard on you.
