I just put a LCP on layaway at my local range. i have a couple of questions for you owners.
1. What ammo do you use and is ther any to stay away from?
2. How bad will this little sucker kick?
3.Is it fairly easy to get used to the trigger and shot accurate?
Thanks for any input.
I will only use it for self defence as I have plenty of other handguns to shoot. My Ruger revolvers are my favorite.

1. In today's market you cannot be choosy about ammo.
2. It kicks.
3. The trigger pull is an acquired touch.
After you get used to it, it's a nice little carry gun. With a good pocket holster it can go anywhere you go; with permission of course.

Put a Hogue grip on it, otherwise it will shift in large hands.

Ammo is whatever you can find. I have not found .380 in over four and a half months!

It kicks a fair deal, not a gun to shoot more than 50-100 rounds at a time.

I love mine

Actually, I bought one thinking it would be my daughters and I like it so much that it rides in my left hand pocket constantly regardless of whether or not I am wearing the Glock on my right hip. Now that my daughter will be turning 18 in October it was time to start looking for another and I found a great deal on one on Friday, $265. My daughter already likes mine so I know she will like hers. The only thing i will tell you is to clean it first. Mine had ridden in my pocket, collecting dust for nearly too weeks before I got a chance to fire it and it jammed a lot. Cleaning all that lube off of it was all it needed. I don't mind the trigger at all. Mine shoots a group the size of my fist when pulled and fired from my pocket, rapid fire, at 7-10 yards. Just remember that this is a self defense gun and not a target pistol.

1. What ammo do you use and is ther any to stay away from?Any ammo you can get.

2. How bad will this little sucker kick? Not bad, just enough to be annoying

3.Is it fairly easy to get used to the trigger and shot accurate? It is possible to shoot it accurately, just not practicle. It has marginally better sights than the P3AT, P32

my LCP shoots Powerball great. Also the standard hardball cheap stuff. The trigger is nice and smooth but the pull is a tad longish. I agree with the sentiment about getting grips to widen the grip. The gun will move around in the hand when it fires and cycles.

On the positive side, it's very accurate. If you shoot it without a sore hand - it's fine. If you spend a day shooting a lightweight snubby and then shoot the LCP - the little gun will hurt like a #))*#@#.

It's a great carry weapon. If you get a good inside the waist holster, or pocket holster - you'll actually not even be aware you've got it. I believe it to be a great conceal carry gun. I have the laser sights on mine and they are very nice.

Enjoy your new LCP - it's a fine pistol.

I handled my friend's new LCP this weekend. I don't own any pocket pistols, but I was impressed.

1. What ammo do you use and is ther any to stay away from? No comment.
2. How bad will this little sucker kick? Not bad at all. I was expecting something unpleasant from such a light gun, but it wasn't.
3.Is it fairly easy to get used to the trigger and shot accurate? The trigger pull is much longer and heavier than I am used to (it is double-action), but it made a 6" group in the middle of silhouette target at 10m without much effort. Probably would group better if I had had more time to mess with it, and a single point to aim at instead of a blank sheet of cardboard.

I don't have an LCP, but I own a P3AT and have shot an LCP a few times.

1. What ammo do you use and is ther any to stay away from?

Any commercial ammo is fine...as long as you can find it.
I'll shoot anything, but my preference is WWB and Hornady XTP.

2. How bad will this little sucker kick?

Some people say they kick a lot, but I don't think they do.
I shoot mostly 9mm in compact autos as well as 38Spl in airweights, a 357, and a 480Ruger. To me, it really doesn't feel any more uncomfortable than a Bersa Thunder 380.

3.Is it fairly easy to get used to the trigger and shot accurate?

Do you shoot revolvers? If you have a DA revolver then the LCP is easy to get used to.
I can keep all my shots on a 6" target at 10 yards.

I just got to shoot mine for the first time last Friday. The range had the ammo! Just WWB but it does kick. Not all that bad though. I didn't think I'd get to shoot it due to no ammo so it wasn't cleaned. No issues at all. I was working with my daughter on her ccw so I didn't shoot it much. I did quickly decide that she shouldn't shoot it yet. Just a bit too much bite. As a wheel gun man and as much as I love my 442 for carry, if the LCP proves to be reliable, it will see a lot of carry time. But my J will still be my main.

About ammo.....

as others have said, you buy what you can get your hands on these days. The LCP wil work well with any ball type ammo out there like the WWB, Mag Tech, S&B, Fiochi, etc. As for what you carry in it, I am currently carrying the Fiocchi, XTP round. It uses Hornady's XTP bullet at just 50 FPS slower than the Hornady TAP round which uses the same bullet. When you can find it, 50 rounds will cost you about $22 at Cabela's. Twenty rounds of TAP is $19 the last time I checked.

I have not found any ammo it hasn't liked...actually I haven't found much ammo at all.

Just kidding the 3 or 4 major brands I shot I have not had a single issue. I now shoot exclusively reloads both FMJ and lead without any problems. I have a couple of really light loads that are pleasant to shoot and still cycle the gun

My slide was very tight at first but I manually cycled it before the first shoot maybe 200 times and it was noticably smoother at the end.

I have not had any issues with the recoil. I tend to be recoil insensitive though. I have had a couple of newbie's shoot it...wife and neighbor (both of who do not shoot much) and they did not like it. That being said, a 50 round session is plenty for me

Really the biggest issue is getting used to the really long trigger pull. It is like nothing else I have ever shot. It really requires practice.

Accuracy?? Draw from pocket holster...7 shots at 10 yards inside 4 sec within a hand sized group is common...faster if you practice

My LCP has no problem with Speer Gold Dot and Hornady Critical Defense. I have not tried other brands such as Corbon, etc. I shoot Winchester white box and my reloads for practice.
It has a little bite to it when fired with the defense loads and it is a little easier since I installed the little magazine extender thingy. I had a couple of hangs when first shooting and breaking in, but I think that was more of not letting the trigger fully out after firing and maybe a limp-wrister or two. But since then and about 500 rounds, it eats like a hungry puppy, good luck its a great summer ccw.

It functions very well with Hornady Critical Defense.

It has a heavy kick due to the small size and light weight.

The trigger takes some getting use to.

You can carry it every day in virtually any type of clothing.

WOW if I had read this before I got my LCP I might not have. I normally shoot a Glock 19 and wanted a back up and summer carry. My buddy talked me into getting one and I love it.

Yes it feeds Gold Dots well and that is what I carry (haven’t tried any thing else except hardball). The trigger pull is stiff and long and if your trying for accuracy do not slow pull the trigger you will shoot all over the paper. I found a slightly fast firm trigger pull works for me.

Recoil is mild compared to a Walther PPK but you feel it and it can move around in the hand. I found the finger extension on the magazine does help but can get hooked in a pocket easier depending on carry method.

Couple added notes: if you like to shoot 2 handed watch the position of your wrap around fingers they can extend in front of the barrel if your not paying attention.

I found the firearm pulls left for me so when shooting 2 handed (I shoot right handed) I put my left hand trigger finger just in front of the trigger guard where it curves up into the frame with a slight pressure it keeps it from moving and my finger away from the end of the barrel.

I hope you enjoy it a lot I do mine!!!

Had a great uncle who shot off the tip of one of his fingers because he did that while shooting a derringer.

I have put every type of FMJ, and HPs that I can(could) find down the pipe of my LCP, and have not had one single FTF, FTE, or misfire with mine.

Get a Hogue Handall Jr or a Pachmyr rubber grip for it. Also the pierce mag extensions are a cheap addonn that help with recoil and aiming.
