Hello,

I have a Ruger M77 Mark II VLE model that is the same as the rifle shown here;https://www.gunsamerica.com/9599745...308-CAL-26-BULL-BARREL-BLACK-LAMINATE-NEW.htm

I am getting a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6x24x50 30mm tube that will be replacing the 3x9x40 1inch tube so I need new rings. I spoke with Vortex and they told me that I need rings that are made specifically for the M77 and advised that I can get these from Ruger or Leopold. I'd prefer Ruger purely for the cost saving and customer service. I have not had any dealings with Leopold before this.

I can see on the Ruger website that for a 50mm objective scope I need a front scope ring 5B30 High and a rear scope ring 6B30 Extra High. I am not sure what current rings I have on the scope because I bought the gun used and it came with them.

Has anyone had any experience with this rifle? Are Ruger and Leopold the only manufacturers that make rings for this rifle? I really like the rifle and plan to keep it, are the Leopold rings worth splurging for?

Thanks

Warne and Alaska Arms also make rings to fit the proprietary Ruger integral dovetail mounts. Both are typically more expensive than Ruger rings.

Ruger rings are fine. Very solid. Simple. I use them on almost all of my Ruger M77 MkII and Hawkeyes.

The rings which came on your rifle will not work for that new scope - the diameter is too small and the height too low. Order the new Ruger rings.

Thank for the advice Varminterror. I reached out to Ruger and confirmed the ring sizes so got them ordered. I will probably get it installed after the hunting season.
