A LGS has a very lightly used Ruger Mark II 22/45 with the factory box and two mags for $199.

Seems like a good gun for good price and a great starter for my 13 year old son to begin "official" instructional club pistol shooting at the local range.

Thoughts?

I have one, hundreds of rounds into it and haven't cleaned it yet. Function has been flawless so far. I got it for $300 new so $200 seems reasonable to me. Still testing ammo in it but so far Federal does the best. 5.5 barrel for me is not optimum target shooting I do better with a longer barrel past 15 yards but overall it is a great gun for the money. Only thing I don't like is the button on the magazine you press down on to load is small and it hurts my finger some.

OH edit.... I have a MK IV the newest one not a MK II

Grab it along with some 22 give it to son put the date on the card and cherish that day forever.

If you don't have a McFadden Mag loader and own a Buckmark or MKx pistol, I cannot help you.:)

That's McFadden Machine.
Dump bullets in the box and shake.
Insert empty magazine, remove full.

With a freashly cleaned loader and the polymer coat CCI cartridges, I load five magazines in fifteen seconds.
Best fourteen dollar accessory I've bought.

(In addition...
You may not blame me for increases in ammunition bugets, less arthritis, more range time, depleted ammunition reserves, finer pistol control, or increases wear on the pistol.

You can blame me for any hair loss.
I have that effect on humans...:D)

Yeah, I would be waiting at their door when they opened this morning.

I have a high-tech loading device for my Ruger Mark. It's called... dun, dun, dun... a t-shirt! Before I push the loading button of the magazine down with my thumb, I wrap the lower edge of my t-shirt around the aforementioned thumb. No more owies. Problem solved. (Note: I am not disparaging Demi-human's post in any way, just mentioning a more primitive and doubtless less efficient alternative.)

I had a mk3 22/45 about 10? Years ago. It was great, during a period in my life when time was no object and 22 ammo was cheap and plentiful (thankful its back to normal for the most part). I hammered that gun about 1000 rounds every other weekend - estimated to about 25,000 rounds in a single year. That gun gave up nothing in that time, no breakage, no noticable wear , no decrease in accuracy. Sold it for $20 less than i paid for it! Used the money for a mk3 competition target that i still have, love it . Not planning to get a mk4, but i do like the easier takedown. I do want a woodsman, a s&w 41 and an old high standard "space gun". All great pistols.

Horrible, deal.

Please let me know where you found it and I'll call them and give them a proper scolding.
