These are the only 22lr autos available where I live, and they´re about the same price.

I´ve heard the Ruger is more accurate, but I really like the looks of the Cadet.

Just how big is the difference in handling and accuracy?

I´m in late middle age and my eyes are not what they used to be. I´m generally happy if I can get all my shots in the black at about 15 yards.

Two Great Guns..

You've chose two great guns, but two totally different guns!... Had a Mark II for years, durable as hell, great plinking/target gun but 'tear-down' a real pain-in-the-ass! The CZ Kadet is an all-steel, heavy, full-sized gun (a .22 barrel/slide on a full-sized 9mm CZ 75B frame)... With CZs quality, accuracy and flawless shooting... it makes this a special .22!!
If you want to spend less money, and get a quality plinking gun, you will NEVER go wrong with either the Ruger Mark of the Browning Buck... but if you want a super-quality, big-gun feel .22, go for the CZ Kadet... you won't regret it! Get a chance to see one, hold one, even shoot one... you'll see the difference! It's a .22 you'll love for a long, long time.

I'm torn between these 2! I own 3 .22 Ruger pistols, MKIII 22/45 stainless 4.5 inch barrel, MK4III blue 4 inch barrel, and KMKIII stainless 4.5 inch barrel and Crimson Trace laser. (I also have a Ruger 10/22 carbine...little off subject, sorry). I had a MKII, but traded it up to get the KMKIII (along with some $$$). I have not found the MKIII's hard to bread down at all. But I've been shooting Ruger .22 pistols since I was a kid...so it's almost like 2nd nature to me.

I am also a HUGE CZ fan. GZoh is too, PROMISE YA THAT! He is correct in that the Kadet will give you more of a "big gun feel" and they are accurate, but so are the Rugers. Both are built like tanks and both will serve you well. I'd say if you have the exta $$$ get the Kadet. If not...a MKIII is a great .22 pistol. I love mine, especially the KMKIII...that Crimson Trace Laser is AWESOME! Good luck and Happy Shooting!

BTW: GZoh, I'm going to catch up with you on the CZs (I've just done more side work to mine...LOL).

Nahhh, you don't want TWO .22s...
Compromise, get the Mark III Ruger and a CZ 75B or SP-01... you'll be a content, happy man!

I've never found the Rugers to be very reliable.
Can't say that with the Kadet Kits. If the ammo is
good, they go bang every time and cycle very nicely.

A well made conversion kit that saves you money and
improves your shooting skills.

CZF, the Ruger Mark series are outstanding 22lr pistols. A little tough to teardown and put back together but accurate and extremely reliable. I am in the process of purchasing a Kadet pistol as I am also a huge backer of CZ's (I own five 9mm's) and want a good range toy. Having a gun that feels like my full sized favorites for the range seems to be a very good idea. I would never tell someone not to buy a Ruger Mark (standard thru III) they are a fine .22.

The CZB with the Kadet kit was an awesome idea, as I am I big CZ supporter my self (2 CZ75 w/ Crimson Trace Lasers, and a SP-01). I plan on getting the CZ 97BD next (hee hee). But as for the Ruger, you can't go wrong. They really are outstanding pistols. It's all good, go with it!

BTW: Once you've taken a Ruger apart and gotten it back together again, the next time is a piece of cake (or it gets easier at least). I've never really had any major difficulties with them.

was it eerw with a decked out kadet pistol?

nice thing about a CZ... buy a regular CZ-75 and put the kadet kit on top of it. you get to practice a ton with your fullsize weapon. :)

The MKII was not mentioned by the starter of this thread. He is considering a MKIII. And as I have already stated, once you've taken a Ruger (take any of them, I've had my share of MKII and I've got 3 other Ruger .22 now that I am completely satisfied with) apart a few times, the easier it gets, until it's second nature if you do it enough!

I have both and shoot the CZ more. I have a 9mm CZ and use the kadet kit as practice though. It was more reliable than my mark II. Easier to field strip too.

Nahhh, you don't want TWO .22s...
Absolutely, you need at least a half-dozen. :D

The Ruger MKIII/MKII is a great starter pistol, you will "starting" for a long time with one of these. I have three Rugers (MKIII Hunter, MKIII 22/45 and MKII GC), a Buck Mark Standard, S&W 22A, P22 and Single Six. All are fun to shoot. The P22 is a notch below the others in my ability to shoot accurately, materials of construction and construction problems.

I've fired the CZ75B with conversion kit. Really like the way it feels and shoots. The only problem I've seen with them is they tend to eject brass at 90°. The guy next to me was getting good groups on my left ear with the brass.

I keep hearing how hard Rugers are to field strip. The first time I did it, the technical language was so strong the dog left the room. A bit of practice and it became a no-problem activity. I'd rather field strip a Ruger than my Buck Mark. Finding the wrench to remove the sight base screws and making sure I don't lose the washers and screws is a real bother. The 22A is by far the easiest. Lock the slide back, depress the take-down button, remove the barrel, release the slide and remove the recoil spring and rod.

Right on greener! Ruger's aren't that hard to take apart. I don't know why everyone cries about it. Learn to fully operate your firearm, keeping it functional.

I still like the CZ75 with the Kadet kit too, great idea! But don't dis the Ruger!

I had a Ruger MKII and now I have a Kadet kit on my SP01. I like the Kadet so much more because it is good practice for my SP01 and it is so much easier to clean. The Ruger will be alot easier to scope if that is your thing. They also have a speed strip kit that gets rid of all the flipping and rotating involved in reassembly but I am not sure if it will work on a MKIII

I love the Ruger MKII's. Mine (I have TWO at the moment). But got to agree, go with your thought. Buy one and have kids buy the second.
