Ruger MKII vs all other MK's

I bought a new MK1, 6 7/8 in heavy tapered barrel in 1976, shooting with a local pistol club. I shot with the club for a full year until enviromentlists closed our range. I outfitted it with a set of Ruger thumrest walnut grips and it is scarry accurate.I carried it bow hunting and small game hunting for the last 40 some years. I can't remember a single failure to or failure to eject no matter what ammo I used. I remember paying 79.00 bucks for it. The bolt held open on the last shot and improved mag release on the MK11 would be nice, but I'd never part with my MK1. hdbiker

My Mark I was the only one of the series that didn't need trigger work. All the others are now sporting Clark triggers (as well as other improvements).

I have a MKII Competition Target slabside barell and a MKIII Target. The MKII is stock and the MKIII has a Volquartsen trigger. Improved the MKIII trigger immensely but I still prefer the MKII.

I have had one or two of each of the MK series over the years. The MK IV Competition model was the most accurate and had the best factory trigger of the bunch.

I got one of those quick takedown products for my Mark II. Works pretty well.
I only have minimal experience with the Mark III. Don't care for them, mostly because of the LCI.
I'd like to get a Mark IV at some point. It's just that the redesign of the safety is where my thumb is [on my natural hold] and bothers me. I'd have to find a solution for that first,...whether it is something aftermarket, or taking the factory ones off and milling them down some.
