Ruger Mousqueton A.M.D. stock

I am a pistol guy. I clicked on this post because I thought it said "Ruger Mousegun AMD stock". Then I had to Google to find out what a Ruger Mousqueton was. It's French: https://www.shootingillustrated.com/content/the-mousqueton-a-m-d-france-s-mini-14/

Did everyone else already know what this was? Because if so, I am going to feel really stupid. I get enough of that already when I try and hook my cell phone up to a WiFI hotspot.

Anyway, thanks for helping me learn something new today, kBob!

I followed the "click bait" because I thought it might be a misspelling of something like Mouseketeer :D

The real thing is OK, but now my imagination's gone down a cartoon rabbit hole.

After the attacks on Charlie Hebdo offices by Jihadist terrorist in France in 2015 there were a lot of photos in the news of French police carrying the French version of the Ruger Mini-14 known as the Mousqueton AMD. They had it in their arsenal long before that.

The stocks are pretty cool, having the M1 Carbine type slot for the oiler and side mount sling. That's most what I like about the stock. Any competent smith who is handy with a router could modify your stock like that.

I have a Mini-30 and I've considered having that done or maybe getting an HK style side rear mount installed on the stock. There are other easier ways. I'm still looking into it.

Looking at photos, in addition to the sling slot I'm seeing a thick red rubber buttpad with a black spacer and checkering on grip and forend. I might be wrong, but the French stocks are pretty shiny and usually show a bit more grain than a standard Mini-14 stock. You might need to start from an inletted blank to properly duplicate the dimensions.

The butt stock seems to be more of a "rifle" style than a carbine . I'd try one if I could find one .
