just bought a no.1 in 280 remington i'm trying to figure out what scope to go with i'm concerned with getting the right eye relief i need to stay at or under $350.just want to get some feedback from people that own a no.1 and what worked for them

Had similar issue on my .30-06 No. 1 (perhaps I am not using the rib mounting system properly) but I put a Burris model with extended eye relief on it and that has been fine. Sorry, forgot the scope model to pass that along. It's almost in the nature of a Scout Rifle scope.

with out extenstion rings a scope with a longer tube between the turret and the eye piece will help. I have found older burris are better and older weavers too. the scope on the rifle is a older burris 2x7 and scope above the rifle is a older 2.5x compact leupold and you can see the difference and every little bit helps. eastbank.

I have a Ruger #1 .204 with a Leupold VX-III 4-12X 50mm. It's a pretty good set up, but the short eye relief requires me to stretch my neck a bit, which is not comfortable when shooting prairie dogs because my neck gets sore after a 100 or so rounds. I would use a Bushnell Elite 4500 4-16X with side focus, which I just mounted on a another rifle and the longer eye relief would be perfect for the #1.

The perfect scope for me on a Ruger No. 1 .280 would be a VX-3 2.5-8x36 but they are $50.00 more than you want to spend. Within your budget it would be a Fullfield II 2-7 or a VX-2 2-7.

I would want a smaller scope on that type of rifle.
