I have been looking at Ruger No 1s in 458 Lott and I was wondering if they're tapped for a scope. They obviously have open sights but I can't find anywhere that says anything about being tapped or not. I have checked online retailers and Ruger's site but no info. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that all No 1's have a rib on the top of the barrel that Ruger scope rings mount to. You get the rings with the gun.

The No 1V's have a pair of scope ring blocks on the heavy barrel that again, Ruger rings attach to.

Do a Google "Image Search" for a Ruger #1 .458 Lott. Sure enough, no rings!!
I tried to download the picture here but when reduced to fit the KB limit, it was smaller than a postage stamp:what:

A 458WM Ruger #1 should be a 1H Tropical with quarter-rib integral scope bases and come from the factory with medium rings supplied finished to match. So to answer your question, no it is not drilled and tapped for separate bases because they are not needed. Ruger's mounting system is simple, strong, with a minimum of pieces/parts and you don't have to buy anything extra to cobble together. All this info and more is on the Ruger website.

Yes, all #1s have a rib that accepts rings supplied by Ruger or available from aftermarket suppliers. A #1 in 458 Lott will have substantial recoil so make sure you have plenty of eye relief.

SaxonPig...those things are breeding like rabbits. You better send some to other forum members before you are inundated.

Some nice Rugers posted, but No.1 V's don't come with a rib. They have mounting bases though for the factory rings.

I think, not positive by any means, that some B's came without a rib? Don't quote me on that though.
