Ruger nut with a question about a S&W revolver

How much would a 97-98% thunder ranch 44 special be worth in your area? Not that I really care, but it has the fancy box and all the papers with it.

I finally found a smith that is tugging at me.(Don't tell my rugers, they'll mutiny.)

From handling and dryfiring it I love everthing about the gun, other than I find the thunder ranch logo kinda gaudy.

That actually seems like a really good price though. Since there is also another new one on there for $775 that seems a bit more like the common price.

Smith makes a newer version that has the logo on the stocks not on the side plate.

In the last few months CDNN had a pile of those (no pun intended). Might be worth a call to them.

In truly fine condition, $600 wouldn't be outrageous; $550 would be "theft".

I own two. I shoot both but try to be nice to the one I bought new. I bought #2 via the Smith & Wesson web site. Bad news: it had a cracked frame. Good news: S&W must have felt a bit of guilt and performed a wonderful rebuild at no cost!

They're great guns! I love 'em to death!! They shoot to point of aim at twenty yards with a 200 XTP Hornady over 7.0 of Unique or 8.0 of Power Pistol. They're not finicky about what you push through 'em and feel really good.

I think that the prior owner of the cracked frame ran too many Elmer Keith-style Magnum/Specials through it. Strange things can happen to light weight .44s.

Oh, I've owned a Redhawk since '82 and numerous other Ruger products -- even own a few shares of RGR but that doesn't prevent me from enjoying Smiths! Don't feel guilty!!
