A fellow I work with wants to know if I was interested in buying his. $350 plus 4 mags, 500 rounds of ammo. Is this a good deal? What do i need to look for in the way of wear and tear?

Probably a pretty good price. They don't make them any more, and the P90 owners are a pretty loyal bunch, so I'd think that price is reasonable. They sold for $450-$500 when new in recent years. I nearly bought one for $375 with just two mags about a year ago.

Sounds like a pretty good price to me. I have had one for several years now and never had any problems out of it. Some say it may not be the best looking gun ever made, and i tend to agree. With that said, i will not be getting rid of mine.

Ruger P-series guns don't sell for much new anymore. but like Haranguer said, the ammo and magazines push this one well into the great deal range. They have a reputation for being extremely tough, most people find the P90 to be extremely accurate for a service-type pistol of any cost, and getting spare parts for it if something ever breaks shouldn't be a problem, Ruger isn't going anywhere and they made lots of those pistols.

I'd say just look for any major obvious defects, but with a gun like these ones if it looks fine it almost certainly is.

They are very durable, reliable and very accurate. The asking price is pretty good but I'd shoot him 325.00 and see what he says. I used mine mainly for a range gun as they are a bit too big for me to carry.

Don't get me wrong they were issued to PD's in the 90's I believe. They are no longer made which is too bad as they were a great gun for the price.

200 bucks off for the ammo, not 1oo......then 45 more for the extra mags, you are getting a FANTASTIC deal on a great gun......

Terrible deal, in fact, give me that guy's name and number and I'll be glad to tell him so myself. :D

Actually, it is a great deal. I had a loyal P 90 as my night stand gun for years. It never gave me an issue, and was always on target at the range. The ammo and mags make it better.

Unfortunately I had an affair with a Glock 21 SF with nightsights. So the Ruger had to go:(

Well, he told me it was a PD issue service weapon. He has no idea what the round count is, so I'm asking for input on what I should look for in the way of damage, slide, barrel peening, sloppy trigger...any ideas?

Speaking as the owner of one myself, I say it's a good deal. I paid 350 for mine new with one mag almost 5 years ago. I have been very happy with it. It shoots well, it is a touch heavy but it's a pretty large gun so I guess that's not too surprising.

I have read (no independent verification) that it was originally conceived for a steady diet of full power 10mm Auto, so it is actually overbuilt for the .45 Auto it wound up being chambered for.
