I've got the itch to get something new and I was wondering what a Ruger P-94 would be worth in trade a gunshop? I've got the 2 original 10 round magazines and 2 "now legal" 15 rounders. It's had maybe 800-1k through it.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Have a good one,
Dave

I have a P-94 with original box, manual, 1 each factory 10 and 15-round mags, new recoil spring and guide rod, and a Sprinco stainless guide rod. At a recent gun show, one dealer offered me $300 for it. I figure I'll put it on consignment starting at $349 at my usual dealer, who takes 10%. Based on what I've seen, I figure I can walk away with $300, maybe a few bucks more.

Before selling it though, I just have to figure out why the pistol suddenly won't disassemble. (See this TFL thread and this THR thread.) I went to install the new guide rod and spring Ruger sent me, and the pistol won't come apart. Grrr...

Wow, that's better than I thought.

I read your thread and was trying to remember what I did when that happened to me. I know I've had it happen once or twice but I don't know what I did. I think I put everything back together and worked the action 2-3 times and then disassembled it again. What's sticking in my head was that there was some gizmo (for lack of a better word) that wasn't depressing and allowing the slide to come forward and off. I think it might have been a firing pin safety but I'm not sure if I'm confusing it with my Kimber now or not. (been shooting it primarily for the last few months)

Have a good one,

Dave,

The magic trick to disassembling most, if not all, of the Ruger P series is pressing the ejector down and forward, locking it into position there. I made the mistake of forgetting to do this myself long ago when I first got this pistol, as do many new owners of these.

Unfortunately, such is not the case now. I've triple-checked everything I can think of, plus followed up on several suggestions of others, to no avail. I'll be calling Ruger tomorrow.

Although prices may vary by region, your P-94 should be worth $300 IMO. It has less use than mine, and twice the number of mags, so I think that balances out the new and aftermarket parts in mine. (Another dealer at the aforementioned show only offered $250, but they struck me as kinda sleazy. They were selling another Ruger P-series for around $350, and it was not nearly in the same condition as mine. I think they were trying to lowball me in order to make a quick $100.) Two reputable dealers I know, including the one who offered me $300, sell used guns, often on consignment, for 10% profit.
