I'm wanting to get a Ruger P97 (why, just to have), and was wondering what people think the gun is worth on today's market. Let's assume excellent condition.

The gun comes with one mag. I have (2) P90s and the P97 shares the same mag as the P90.

I would say $300-350, depending on your local market. The P90's are going up in price quite a bit, but the 97 seems to be overlooked by collectors.

Good luck on your search. The P97 is a great 45. I keep mine as a house gun because it eats everything and is simple to operate for my wife. Decent trigger too.

I paid $340 last year for my "As New in Box" P97. I have all 3 P series 45s and my stainless P97 is excellent. I think it has the least felt recoil of all 3.

Consider the P345 also. Uses the same magazines. Its easier to find than the P97, because it was manufactured for a longer period of time, and was the last P series pistol in production. Prices seem to be a few dollars higher than the P97, but deals can be had. I paid $350 for my P345. Its a slimmer pistol, and has better gripping texture to the grip area. It does have a magazine disconnect, and a loaded chamber indicator, both of which many people feel is a step in the wrong direction. My P345 is exceptionally accurate, and has never failed to shoot anything I have fed it, including a box of FMJ that looked to be from WWII that the seller gave me. All the P series 45s are great pistols, and are(were)a great value, way beyond their original low cost.
