Ruger PC40 Carbine

There is a new model of the PCC40 (it is being incorrectly referred to in this thread as a PC40). The new model takes either Ruger or Glock magazines just like the 9mm version. Obviously the magazines are not interchangeable between the 9mm and the .40 versions.

Cool, I had not heard they were putting one out in 40. I know that when the 9mm one came out there was talk that there might be conversions at some point due to the design of the bolt and the counter weight. Being a brake down, a new barrel and bolt / weight put it all together and your off to the races.

I am with Enfilder, one in 357Sig would be interesting if they could work it out. I would relay like to get one in 10mm but I don't think it would work due to the pressure and it being a blow back design (just guessing) and the size of the mag well might not support a lager mag.

I was hoping for a 10mm as well, but I believe you are right that the design cannot handle the round

I talked to a Ruger engineer last year. The whole carbine would have to be redesigned to handle cartridges longer than 9mm/.40 S&W. He told me that market research showed that they couldn't break even on a .45 ACP/10mm series.

Things may change in the future but I'm not holding my breath. I REALLY want a decent inexpensive .45 ACP carbine.

Oh a 357 Sig would really appeal to the hipster to me. Wonder how that round would perform in a barrel that long?

As @Texas10mm alludes to above, everyone expected a 10mm version - except Ruger. These are blowback guns and a redesign would be required to accommodate the 10mm cartridge (or .45 ACP for that matter). I doubt a .357 Sig would work either. There is a reason the Hi Point carbines are so bulky.
